RE:Time Acceleration our concept of time changes as we age. remember how it seemed to take forever for your Birthday to come around? when you were 5 a year was equal to a fifth of a LIFETIME. by the time you`re twenty it has shrunk to one twentyth.the longer you live the smaller the fraction becomes.this is because the preception of time is subjective.the reality of time is relentless.gotta go time`s getting short er.

The Universe, in particular, LIFE can function with the absence of TIME. TIME never ever exists in the Universe. TIME's concepts (e.g. 1 to 12 hrs, am. pm., 0 to 60 mins / secs/ etc. ) and devices (e.g. string, image, clock, watch, etc.) are examples of MAN's Creativity & Innovation for adding some Colour in the MEANINGLESS Universe / LIFE.

Time is, I believe, not something used to "color in" our universe, and make it more fun, but rather, something to give us perspective as to our position in it, just like the lines in a road. If you were in a perfectly white room, one that seemingly goes on for ever in every direction, you'd be very disoriented, very fast. If you have a marker every, oh, say, foot, you get a sense of where you are. If you put a Bigger marker every 60 feet, you get a better idea. Then every 60 of those, another one, and then after 24 of those, another one, and so on. You get to know where you are, you don't feel lost, and you can put your mind to other things

for all of you who obviously don't know, time IS subjective....just think about it.....if your life had no beginning or end, then time would be irrelevent, possibly non-existant....since life does have an end, therefore, so does each increment of time (i.e second, minute....)Overall, time is a creation of mankind that is relative only to mankind.....this is very simple if you give it some thought!

time is not a constant. Time is relative. CASE IN POINT: They (some university scientists) put an atomic clock on earth, and one in orbit for a few months. Later on, the one that had been in space was several minutes off. (atomic clocks are based on atoms and elemental reactions and their timing is virtually perfect.) Time is whatever can be made of it. Sometimes, time is a relative entity in the life of those experience it...other times it is the one thing that keeps a chaotic life in constant motion. I know what time is to me...it's her heartbeat...it's her breath against my neck as she sleeps...it's my name ringing in her voice everytime she speaks. That's time...the need for it to stop because I love every moment with her.

Time - He's waiting in the wings He speaks of senseless things His script is you and me boys Time - He flexes like a whore Falls wanking to the floor His trick is you and me, boy Time - In Quaaludes and red wine Demanding Billy Dolls And other friends of mine Take your time The sniper in the brain, regurgitating drain Incestuous and vain, and many other last names I look at my watch it say 9:25 and I think "Oh God I'm still alive" We should be on by now We should be on by now La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la You - are not a victim You - just scream with boredom You - are not evicting time Chimes - Goddamn, you're looking old You'll freeze and catch a cold 'Cause you've left your coat behind Take your time Breaking up is hard, but keeping dark is hateful I had so many dreams, I had so many breakthroughs But you, my love, were kind, but love has left you dreamless The door to dreams was closed. Your park was real dreamless Perhaps you're smiling now, smiling through this darkness But all I had to give was the guilt for dreaming We should be on by now We should be on by now We should be on by now We should be on by now We should be on by now La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la Yeah, time!

Sometimes I wonder about infinity, and I always come to the same conclusion: if we could understand time, that would answer a lot of questions. There will be time, there will be time To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet; There will be time to murder and create, And time for all the works and days of hands That lift and drop a question on your plate; Time for you and time for me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea. (T.S. Eliot) This is how blather differs from life.

It is someone's idea to induce the event by talking it up and placing it in the collective consciousness. I speculate that the time traveler is already here awaiting the aforementioned date to unveil their presence. Or perhaps they are stranded and this is a predestined occurrence that will allow them to return to their own time. Whatever it is I've been seeing posters and stickers around town for six months now, But I doubt Jacksonville Florida will be the Location of the event. Premonitions anyone?

the greeks had 2 different words for time: there was chronos, which was how we in modern times divide up our lives, i.e. "i am 6 years old", "it is 4 o'clock" then there was kairos, which was usually preceded by angst (a feeling of detatchment). kairos is basically a significant change in one's life...no, more like moving on to the next cycle of one's life. the greeks were on the ball about such things

Life is strange when working on the third shift. I go to work one day, get off on the next. To be quite honest I’m not sure that this is today. In fact, I got paid yesterday, or today, whatever. That means this... is still... today... and yesterday’s poem is last weeks? Rod McKuen wrote, “Time passes slowly without love. If you’re willing to wait, an occasional passer-by will distort your clock for a time.” My shyness keeps these journeymen at a distance. And, so, time passes. Yesterday I sat in the rain. It was cold, a much needed distraction. I listened to jazz and read poetry and home-decor magazines. I was waiting for a friend, a visit. Time passes and my she never shows. The few precious hours I have in a day. The few precious years I have at all. I don’t think I’ll have visitors anymore. Waiting was the mistake. “Why did you wait so long”, they’ll say. That will be my con-DAMN-ation. Waiting, does it matter? I don’t want to wait any longer. If time is the issue, then time can stand still, But I can’t bring it back.

My dad is afraid of dying. I used to be too. Then I realized it is kinda a relief. Its one thing you can count on. You cant change it. You have no other choice, so just except it and go on with your day. Oh, well. I may seem kinda heartless or indifferent. But really, do I have another way to look at it. Not really. Not a way that will stop it from happening. Your only choice is to ignore the inevitable... because it is inevitable. Nothing to do but wait. And, while you wait, do stuff to take your mind off of it. Keep busy, dream, live.

I can remember the days when time was our enemy. We could never have enough. It bled away like a wound in warm water. The night faded to day as the sun rose in what seemed like seconds. And now it can never move fast enought. The days in between seeing your face last ions. The more time passes between us the longer it takes, and the more I ache to feel you. Either way. a got alot to say on this subject.... first of all, mr.bill nye? you are an idiot. of course there was time before the big bang, without time nothing moves, how could the big bang have started without time? personally i think time is a creepy concept, everyone beleives in it yet know-one can prove its exsistence. time travel is also creepy... i mean what if someone you know was you. only you in the future went back in time to now so your best freind or teacher or boss could actually be abother you... another thing, some-one further up said that time never stops... how do you know that? if time did stop everything would stop with it and when it starts again no-one would be any the wiser

Okay, so I read an essay the other day, forgive me for not citing the credit, but I honestly don't remember who wrote it. There were a lot of interesting points, but one caught me by surprise. An irrefutable axiom of history is that history repeats itself. The details change but the general course of events is the same. This essay put forth the possibility that not only history, but time itself repeats. The same course of events happens over and over again, with different faces and names. What do you think?

To the VoD (above)- I believe you read an essay with regards to the Doctrine of Eternal Recurrence, a philosophy of history, at least as old as the ancient Greek purveyors of wisdom. Interestingly, its main tenets have been continually defended, reinvented, and rediscovered throughout the ages. Its more modern enthusiasts have included Heinrich Heine and Friederich Nietzsche. Ironically -- some might chuckle -- great ideas in history often get repeated... To comment on a work I love. I think it strange that Nietzsche felt crushed by the burden of eternal repetition. He writes in 'The Gay Science': "This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your live will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence--even this spider and this moonlight between the trees, and even this moment and I myself. The eternal hourglass of existence is turned upside down again and again, and you with it, speck of dust!" I don't share Nietzsche's pessimism. After all, the existence of infinity would not only guarantee that I write this blather again, but that I will also have a fair number of chances to do so in ever more differing ways.. To dust I may go, but to flesh I shall return!

What is closed is not in existance, what is open remains open; Essentially, in a continious action without victory or profit, without glory or trophy. TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN Ragedy Ann and Andy Days, Sun shines, while your shadow plays And time flies when you're having fun. White clouds make pictures in the sky, Flowers dance, and breezes sigh And time flies when you're having fun. Time flies when you're having fun Some memories stray, fall by the waste side But more will come How time flies when you're having fun. Slumber parties; the sounds of laughter Look for the one to fall asleep after. Time sure flies when you're having fun It's getting lost in the eyes of a crush Crumbling to nothing when you first feel their touch Time sure flies when you're having fun. Time flies when you're having fun Some memories stray, fall by the waste side But more will come How time flies when you're having fun. Then it's sleek cafes Where smooth jazz plays And time slips by before you're done Scattered pictures of friends The familiar faces don't end And time slips by before you're done Time flies when you're having fun Some memories stray, fall by the waste side But more will come How time flies when you're having fun. It's the closing of a door To a life you don't have anymore And time goes by slowly, you forgot to have fun Then you look back at life At things you did try You forgot how time flies when you have fun Time flies when you're having fun Some memories stray, fall by the waste side But more will come How time flies when you're having fun. Ragedy Ann and Andy Days And time flies White clouds make pictures in the sky And time moves on ever after Slumber parties; the sounds of laughter Who knew times changed so much? It's getting lost in the eyes of a crush And time slips slowly away Then it's sleek cafes... And time begins to end Scattered pictures of friends And time is gone forever more It's the closing of a door And time has completely taken flight Then you look back at life And time flies when you're having fun.

Time is reality, reality of life. Is time really there? Is life really there? We ask many silly questions, but we don't look at what is really there. The obvious is in front, the blatent obscured. My mind is tender threads of time, my feelings feel the line. I don't believe in time, there is only movement. My watch tells me only when the sun will rise, and how much sooner it is that I don't.

What is time? The time appears as though it is always now. A moment in time arrives, then gone, just as instantly as it arrived. Between birth and death, countless moments occur. Life apears to be a string of moments, ech gone as quickly as it came, all remembered with thoughts. Thought seems to be all that can be projected back in time, remembering, and forward in time, planning, plotting, imagining. Will death consume all time? Which is more important, merely waiting for each moment to pass, untill death consumes? Perhaps filling each moment with seemingly important thoughts and or actions? Where will memory go,should death consume? Will all knowledge and memory be consumed by death, leaving nothing, total annihalitation? Does the spirit soul, which is I, live on, remembering each moment, good or bad? Remembering every opportunity, both siezed and lost. Remembering every moment of time, killed or wasted. Regrets? How should 'man' occupy time? Discovering the spirit self? Connecting with the devine? What is devine? What is devine purpose? All seems irrelevant, perhaps an illusion, should death annihalte all, or even if the spirit-soul lives on. What is relevant, what is time?

breathe fogs the glasses that sit so lifelessly on my face. the icy wind turns that warmth into new ice, taking away my right to see and throwing me over a random step i did not see. here we walk alone along the edges of the frozen lake, afraid to join the skaters down below, untrusting of the land farther intown. here, where trees grow as they will and paths are lightly maintained there is a sense of freedom from the city and its manufactured time. i smile as she defrosts my glasses on her shirt that is hanging below her red winter coat. no, we are not away from the life we wish we didn't have to live, but we are in our escape. she helps me out of the snow i have landed in, setting my glasses back in place. this silence holds no akwardness, and has existed since i knocked on her door. friends should be gathering now in the coffee shop for the story telling, tonight it is an excerpt of the iliad. we avoid that place, and know its posions well. the caffine pumps our blood full of distrust, it makes us skittish and fearful of being alone and being together. the people give us no respite, and the cafe is over its limit. people who come in late get separated and can't sit together, there are just not enough seats, but they do their best. instead we are here on the edge of the lake, now sitting perched on a little tree watching the skaters dance amongst themselves, listening to the cars drive by across the lake, and occassionaly hearing a dog and the shuffling of others seeking any escape from the mechanized world we live in. she is not real, though i wish she was. she is sitting beside me inside my head. her laughter is that of an angel, and her smiles the warmth of a woodstove. a frozen tear forms in my eye, and does not fall. reality is harsh, but so is fantasy. niether are truly true, niether fully false. everything speeds up, i become aware of time. i cough, and my glasses fog again. no one is here to defog them for me.

the unremarkable poetry of hsg, editable -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 040804 i have witnessed a ... few intense minds with eyes flexing to one ... point. i have the feeling that to arrange ... all objects, thoughts and functions throughout a single ... cause, one can solve the enigma of .... consciousness .... in space, time, and purpose and .... arrive .... at one conclusion with god. to .... reach .... this state, viewing the whole landscape .... at .... a distance, detached from it all yet ... entirely empathetic, the potential energy of love may ... only be released through the lifes kinetic pursuit ... with the pure intent of spreading happiness. the ... end result is to know for certain that .... the .... will of the master who guides .... at .... a distance wants objects to become .... only .... completely conscious in happiness. in effect, .... you .... could say that happiness is the aim of the evolution of consciousness. 031804 Levers of Love (lol!) A warm love flowing through my veins. Its amazing that it leads to the heart of such matter...the mind...never minds the course! The lover is a lever. It is the course love flows. It is the love of levers. Is all the effort worth it? What else is there but love? To make things light? To give life? To give light? to make things, life. Light is the path that the lever loves and the trail that the lover leaves. You can travel and arrive at any desire or destination, if you don’t mind loving your journey to get there. They all lead to the same place. A mind wakes up and knows what love truly is. Life’s footsteps lead us there with each trial and error. Efforts flow one right after the other, just to know what’s true and real... What wont give in after time. What leads out of this fearical lyrical labyrinth of eternal suffering....only after infinite and unreserved trust in effort can you love the journey, you can arrive with your desire being any and all journeys. You can turn effort in upon itself to make it your desire to become a better “try-er”. Put aside all destinations and first master the art of effort. Love the way “Love is the way.”. A common point for all to meet is the center of our journey where we kindly greet the softest way to move our feet to an open heart so our minds can see that if you love the path all effort is free. A common point where all things meet The journey's center we kindly greet Light is the softest way to move our feat An open heart so that our mind can see You love the path then all effort is free.

nobody ever seems to have enough. its either that or they've got too much. they could make up their minds at least. time ought not to be so complicated a subject. i mean, its there all the time. and its quite predictible. every moment, you know there's gonna be another. i mean, time is just all over the place. and people worry about not having enough time. but what do they do with their time. personally, i take my time, and i use it however i like. someone might as well. it is the time. for this and that.

`The sun was shining on the sea, Shining with all his might: He did his very best to make The billows smooth and bright-- And this was odd, because it was The middle of the night. The moon was shining sulkily, Because she thought the sun Had got no business to be there After the day was done-- "It's very rude of him", she said, "To come and spoil the fun!" The sea was wet as wet could be, The sands were dry as dry. You could not see a cloud, because No cloud was in the sky: No birds were flying overhead-- There were no birds to fly. The Walrus and the Carpenter Were walking close at hand: They wept like anything to see Such quantities of sand: "If this were only cleared away," They said, "it would be grand!" "If seven maids with seven mops Swept it for half a year, Do you suppose," the Walrus said, "That they could get it clear?" "I doubt it," said the Carpenter, And shed a bitter tear. "O Oysters, come and walk with us!" The Walrus did beseech. "A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk, Along the briny beach: We cannot do with more than four, To give a hand to each." The eldest Oyster looked at him, But never a word he said: The eldest Oyster winked his eye, And shook his heavy head-- Meaning to say he did not choose To leave the oyster-bed. But four young Oysters hurried up, All eager for the treat: Their coats were brushed, their faces washed, Their shoes were clean and neat-- And this was odd, because, you know, They hadn't any feet. Four other Oysters followed them, And yet another four; And thick and fast they came at last, And more, and more, and more-- All hopping through the frothy waves, And scrambling to the shore. The Walrus and the Carpenter Walked on a mile or so, And then they rested on a rock Conveniently low: And all the little Oysters stood And waited in a row. "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." "But wait a bit," the Oysters cried, "Before we have our chat; For some of us are out of breath, And all of us are fat!" "No hurry!" said the Carpenter. They thanked him much for that. "A loaf of bread," the Walrus said, "Is what we chiefly need: Pepper and vinegar besides Are very good indeed-- Now, if you're ready, Oysters dear, We can begin to feed." "But not on us!" the Oysters cried, Turning a little blue. "After such kindness, that would be A dismal thing to do!" "The night is fine," the Walrus said. "Do you admire the view? "It was so kind of you to come! And you are very nice!" The Carpenter said nothing but "Cut us another slice. I wish you were not quite so deaf-- I've had to ask you twice!" "It seems a shame," the Walrus said, "To play them such a trick. After we've brought them out so far, And made them trot so quick!" The Carpenter said nothing but "The butter's spread too thick!" "I weep for you," the Walrus said: "I deeply sympathise." With sobs and tears he sorted out Those of the largest size, Holding his pocket-handkerchief Before his streaming eyes. "O Oysters," said the Carpenter, "You've had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again?" But answer came there none-- And this was scarcely odd, because They'd eaten every one.'

time is just another inconvenience created by power-hungry humans who desire order and routine. i loathe it, because it follows you everywhere and nothing is simultaneous until you lose time..and then you most likely get in trouble, because you aren't on time for something.. and sometimes, when you forget about time, you forget a lot of other things, and someone gets hurt.. it should never have been created

didn't we invent it as such? change in the universe exists independently of humanity - it is the order of things but time, measured in increments that delineate where we are in our annual path round the sun, does not exist except thru our own perception i loath thing thing we call time i belive humans might be so much happier if they weren't so concerned about the hours and minutes of the day; isn't it enough to know that a new day has begun? that it is winter and summer will come round again before long . . . time exists simly as another social instutition- arguably the most fundamental for keeping the world order as we know it

if, as someone semi-important said, lost time is never recovered again, where does the time go when it is lost? i see time as a little goblin or something, and it gets lost a lot. but what happens when it gets lost? is it not at all possible for it to get back? but what if it wants to be found? and where does it go? is it nice, like a vacation, or is it like a prison or no man's land? i'd think it'd be like a no man's land, with barbed wire and rubble everywhere, all dark and grey. and the little time goblin just wanders around there forever, or until it can escape somehow, through some little hole or crack somewhere. there are no clocks there, and the sun doesn't move. there are no seasons, and there is no way at all to tell time. because there isn't any. it's like limbo. this is what i was thinking of today. i'm thinking of making a clock around this theme for my art class.

just as the bells of the second presbyterian church will always recall a resonant joy which threatened to disrupt my heartbeat, and just as that joy came to hold my heartbeat together... just as time erases the grocery list I memorized this morning... just as this website retains the worried beginnings of the singular joy of the twilight of my boyhood... just as a single time and place can hold both dreadful regret and overwhelming beauty... just as forgetting and remembering are the same, and just as the acknowledgement that we will one day forget everything opens us up to see the vivid colors of the past as though it were still with us (oh, it is)... just as the fuzz of every azalea leaf recalls the softness of her cheek just as the translucent spots of every azalea blossom remind me of her freckles just as the scent of honeysuckle and the sound of air rustling through the wysteria reminds me of her breath, and just as the howling wind in the micro-climate at the heart of my city's downtown district recalls the aching void which I knew once or twice how to fill... just as the pile driver across the street will not relent... just as days pass without end, though endings outnumber everything else in sight... just as the refrain of the second movement of Beethoven's 5th will always bring me to tears... just as the poem I read to you meant little then but now mirrors the agony of my heart perfectly... and just as i really should have been a pair of ragged claws, scuttling across the floors of silent seas... just as so many times before, i can't say it as well as its been said already... i can't stop loving you.

superstring theory poses that there are a total of 10 dimensions, which fit together in a somewhat simple, easily explainable model illustrated aptly here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkxieS-6WuA However, it turns out Father Time may be two-timing us: http://www.physorg.com/news98468776.html This leads to the need for more space, an entire unperceived dimension of it, in fact, adding two dimensions to the original 10, leading to 12. Of course, there is some debate about this. Stephen Hawking was not able to agree mathematically with a second time dimension. However, as kx21 points out, we could just tow the universe with a big ol' spaceship exceeding the speed of light and forget time altogether. ;)

You can't touch a rainbow, you can only look at it, tick tock, tick tock, why is a clock round, is it because the world is round ? what would happen if the world was flat ? sometimes i wish i was a stone, like a diamond or something that way i wouldn't go all wrinkly and time wouldn't really matter. are you the transmission in a motor vehical ?

You can't touch a rainbow, you can only look at it, tick tock, tick tock, why is a clock round, is it because the world is round ? what would happen if the world was flat ? sometimes i wish i was a stone, like a diamond or something that way i wouldn't go all wrinkly and time wouldn't really matter. are you the transmission in a motor vehical ?

Pretends to pass slowly by, until you're faced with a moment that makes you realise nothing has passed at all and all of your memories and experiences come to the fore, exist in the now and can never be escaped. To re-live life as it was then, in your mind right now, in this very moment.

Is a double-backed beast. In one hand it offers you happiness and good times of the past. In the other, a razor to cut your regrets into your heart. No matter how long you stare into the sunny days of your youth, your forgotten pains tug at you like a child starving for want of recognition and admittance of your sins. Damn the inconstant heart.

is making me a crusty scabby version of myself. when i was a child i picked at my scabs to make them rebleed over and over til they wouldn't bleed no more. i think my heart may be done bleeding soon. i'm not sure if that is a good thing.

It's nice to look back and see that I agree with myself. But sometimes I just have to wonder; What was I thinking?

Time has gone slow for me. My almost 25 years feel like a lifetime. A full quarter century. A full life. The last week sped past. How do I slow it down again?
