you give your girly-type plumbing until tuesday to let you know that everything's normal, there aren't any cancerous growths as evidence of too much fun. other sh!t is hitting the fan all over, so you can keep distracted, but it still gnaws at the back of your brain. the weekend ends, distractions fade. just as you're starting to worry, it shows up like the slacker late for work, grins at you, cracks its knuckles, and gets to the task of baling out the month-old nesting. there is the joy that not only have complications not manifested, but that the beginning of the new cycle will bring a more friendly arrangement, admitting that the playmate might stick around for a while and the minor inconvenience is worth not worrying, worth being able to see things through to the end. halle-foockin'-leuiah. *deep breath in, and exhale slow...*

This has been a hard week. Especially watching stuff across the pond in the US. But after longer than I'd like to admit worrying about fires and murders and mountain lions and so forth, there is at least one bright spot. Today I feel relief and gratitude.
