ilovepatsajak i'm in los angeles today: it smells like an airport runway, jet fuel stenches in the cabin and lights flickering at random. i'm in los angeles today: garbage cans comprise the medians of freeways always creeping even when the population's sleeping. and i can't see why you'd want to live here. i'm in los angeles today: asked a gas station employee if he ever had trouble breathing and he said, "it varies from season to season, kid." it's where our best are on display: motion picture actors' houses maps are never ever current, so save your film and fifteen dollars. and i can't see why you'd want to live here. billboards reach past the tallest buildings. "we are not perfect, but we sure try" as uv rays "degradate" our youth with time. the vessel keeps pumping us through this entropic place in the the belly of the beast that is californ-i-a, i drank from a faucet and i kept my receipts for when they weigh me on the way out (here nothing is free) but the greyhounds keep coming dumpin locusts into the street until the gutters overflow and los angeles thinks, "i might explode someday soon." it's a lovely summer's day and i can almost see a skyline through a thickening shroud of egos. (is this the city of angels or demons?) here the names are what remain: stars encapsulate the gold lame and they need constant cleaning for when the tourists begin salivating. you can't swim in a town this shallow- you will most assuredly drown tomorrow.

endless desire i think ilovepatsajak was a bit hard on LA. i don't technically live in LA anymore but 30 miles away in orange county. now for years i could not wait to leave this awful place that so many flock too. california has made me sick for as long as i could remember. i loathe the palm tree. i loathe the stereotypes. but LA has its beauty. even the pollution makes a beautiful california sunset. we have the best sunsets anyone will ever find. and he said once, "a california night never lies" the days tell fibs about the season or our lives but the night never lies. it is the purest thing i can find in my life, not to mention the most honest. so i applaud the california night. there is nothing like only being able to see a handful of stars and an array of colours formed from the dirt we breath. i cannot wait to develope my third lung. besides, the lack of stars is made up for the abdunance of lights. 030611

little wonder this is where i plan to be, in aproximately a year and a half.

i have realistic expectations.

i've never been there. it will be my first time away from home.

i don't think this is going to be the city that i "belong" in. i don't think this is going to be "my" city. but i feel like it's where i need to go when i graduate.

and i'm really, really excited for it.
