a bird on a soapbox hmm, lets balance that out

i lost a lot of respect for that other guy, but let's weigh this out

an incessantly horny but otherwise fairly sharp guy

or a guy who is being operated via remote control by his father's old henchmen, a man who was appointed and not elected

a guy whose response to our energy crisis is a quick-fix bandaid solution that doesn't address the long term problem,
topped off by a cross-country promotional trip to get the word out

a guy who signed more death warrants, per capita, as a governor than any other sitting governor since the reinstatement of the death penalty bit has the nerve to call hikmself "pro-life" in another arena

(to me, that philosophy says: "don't kill 'em NOW, let ME do it later")

THAT guy?
whatever.

new_guy oh yeah the same horridly unresearched and biased statements could be said about any man, president or not.

death penalty only gets rid of them when they screw up.

bird on a soapbox UNRESEARCHED?
VP Cheney was
King George I's secretary of defense back in the old days

David Gergan is a hold over from George I now on staff in George II's White House

Secretary of Defense Rumsfield has been a major player in the Pentagon since the Nixon and Ford administrations back when George I was the head of the CIA.
With that kind of tenure in that line of work, ties to or a vested interest in the bottom lines of defense contractors are a strong possibility (hence the strange déja vu sensation of the Cold War starting again)

and i would bet that if the current ethnic demographics of women seeking abortions matched the current ethnic demographic of people on death row there wouldn't be any legal challenges to Roe v. Wade (hell, there'd probably even be subsidies for it at that rate)

the supreme court justices who overturned the Florida court ruling were the ones appointed to the bench by George I and his predecessor old Ron "I covertly approved the sale of arms to terrorists" Reagan

i've been following politics since i was eight years old and i'm nearly thirty now

i make no remark without having some modicum of knowledge of the subject i'm addressing

and frankly, i voted libertarian because i didn't like the Gore/Lieberman ticket either

Just think, if Ralph Nader had been elected, we'd probably have world peace by now.

The Truth Ok...OKAY!

I've made my peace with the universe, so I am ok with the fact the GWB is prez. I've been pissed for several months now, but I realize that this country has had awful leaders in the past, and lived to re-elect good ones later on! So why not just accept it...take a few deep, relaxing breaths of fresh air... and try not to worry about it.

(I still predict that he will light forest fires in Oregon this summer to get revenge on 10% of those brilliant Oregonians voting for Ralph Nader, Just as he caused that oil truck to "accidentally" wreck itself on a bridge, in broad daylight, with dry roads, and no other cars involved, over a stream that was habitable by an endangered species, just days after he sued his way into office! Coincedence? only for naivety!)

But if we didn't have bad leaders, we wouldn't appreciate our good ones as much (and it's not like the oil companies haven't been in control all along anyway!) !

silentbob that someone will probably be the american citizen.

I have followed The Daily Show on comedy central more closely in the last few months and have found they are the most excellent source of news. They make the best criticisms of bush and everyone else. The other night they showed a clip of bush talking to the military. He was saying he was going to get more funds for them and John Stewart said, "Getting military funds for a military audience? VERY BRAVE! After this he stopped by an audience of eleven year old boys and said he was going to increase the boobies."
020207
...
silentbob oh yeah. my point was that John Stewart also said Bush would increase military spending but not raise taxes. Then a democrat would be elected and raise taxes to fix all the problems bush caused, and then he would be voted out for raising taxes, and onward would continue the spiraling cycle of death. 020207

blue star he's bad for my blood pressure... I honestly can't believe the arrogance that he has... the lies that leave this man's lips are horrifying, and what's even more disturbing is that the American public for the most part doesn't bother to research what he's telling them, because we've generally been able to trust our presidents. I think we'd be just as screwed, in a different way, if Gore were president right now, but for christ's sake, can't the republicans pick somebody better? JOHN MCCAIN for christ's sake! The man's got a brain, he's BEEN to war, he KNOWS what it means other than pushing some fucking red button and blowing up thousands of innocent people. In my mind I'm picturing dubya dancing around the oval office singing the smurf song, and goddamnit, I think CNN should go and film THAT!

If the American public was FORCED to watch Bush's idiocies over and over again the way that we were force-fed Clinton's sexual adventures, the country would be much better off.

By the way, Clinton was MUCH better at foreign relations than dubya is, which I hope is obvious. It takes a special kind of moron to call an entire region an "axis of evil."

Right now, I'm hoping for the best, but I'm not counting on anything good coming out of this administration. Whereas before, there was no question of whether or not I would finish college, right now I'm wondering if maybe our entire country will be a smoking hole. Eventually, all the countries we've fucked over are gonna get pissed, and they're gonna have an international support group party which we don't think we need to attend (see: United Nations) and they're gonna figure out that if they get together, they can eliminate us.

And who could honestly blame them? We're ignoring our homeless, our poor, unemployed, and ill. WE ARE THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. Our negligence is UNACCEPTABLE. Furthermore, when we say it is our duty to free other societies from hardship, it is the highest form of hypocrisy when we cannot ensure our people a secure financial future after their hard work and contributions to social security.

Senator Wellstone's death has scared me more than I can put across. Not only was he a vital presence in our Congress as a real opposition to Republican policy (without conflict and compromise, there can be no democracy), but he represented one of the vital seats this session for control of the Senate. If Republicans gain control, even by such a small margin, of the legislature and the White House, I shudder to think where this country will go in the next two years.

What Bush said In July, US President Bush said, "We have not found stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction," a sentence construction that kept alive the possibility the weapons might yet be discovered.

On Thursday (107- October 7, 2004), the president used the clearest language to date nailing the question shut:

"Iraq did not have the weapons that our intelligence believed were there," Bush said. His words placed the blame on U.S. intelligence agencies.

What Women Want!
Women are now free!
Because of the Pro-Freedom actions under the leadership of President Bush's efforts, WOMEN are now being educated and employed for the first time EVER in Afghanistan. Let freedom ring!
041026

birdmad Women were educated in Afghanistan before the Soviet invasion when the place was a fairly civilized country, but since the people Ronnie Ray-Gun and Bush the First supported to kick the Soviets out of Afghanistan were all ultra-religious fanatics, they kinda put a damper on that sort of thing once they had taken control of the country.

Also, counting an urban area like Kabul as all of Afghanistan when most of the rural areas are essentially run by the same sort of regional wsrlords that ran pieces of the country before we deposed the Taliban is typical of Bush's spin on things not meshing too well with anything resembling reality
