someone sent me this in my email because they were sent that gay porn link. i hate people like this. i'm so sick of anyone who is "christian" saying that being gay is a sin. that witchcraft is the devil. and i hate anyone who tells me i have demons inside of me, you know what? fuck off. The Sin of Sodom What does the Bible say? The Gentiles in the first century were very wicked and sinful. They refused to believe in God. They made idols and worshiped them. "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves" (Romans 1:20-24). They sank so low that they practiced the perversion known as "homosexuality." "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due" (Romans 1:26, 27). Some today are telling us that homosexuality is normal and right. Our Lord tells us what is normal and right in sexual relationships: "And He answered and said to them, 'Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So then, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate’"(Matthew 19:4-6). Many religious leaders defend the practice of people having sexual relations with those of the same sex. The United Methodist Church in the USA recommended that their members regard homosexuals as "persons of sacred worth" and accept them into fellowship. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Netherlands says that homosexuals can become "ordained ministers" in their denomination. Other denominations have also fully accepted homosexuals without requiring them to repent of their sin. There is much confusion today about the difference between right and wrong. This was also true in the days of Isaiah, the prophet. Isaiah wrote, "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter"(Isaiah 5:20). Just because some people say homosexuality is right does not make it so! Some say that we should not discuss homosexuality because it is a political issue. However, it was a moral issue long before it became a political issue. The Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin. If a person does not repent of it, he will be lost eternally. The first example of homosexuality was found in the city of Sodom. The wickedness of this city is described in Genesis 19:4-7. Men, both young and old, wanted to have sexual relations with Lot's male visitors. The New Testament mentions this shameful event and confirms it is a true account (Matthew 11:23,24, Jude 7; 2 Peter 2:6-8). God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of this vile perversion. The sins of these two cities serve as the standard to which other sins are compared (Isaiah 3:9; 13:19; Jeremiah 23:14; Matthew 11:23,24). The Law which God gave to Israel at Mt. Sinai condemned the practice of homosexuality. "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination... Do not defile yourselves in any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you" (Leviticus 18:22, 24). "if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13). "There shall be no ritual harlot of the daughters of Israel, or a perverted one of the sons of Israel. You shall not bring the wages of a harlot or the price of a dog to the house of the LORD your God for any vowed offering, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God" (Deuteronomy 23:17, 18). The word "dog" here is a name the people of ancient Israel used to describe a homosexual prostitute. "Dogs" will not be in Heaven (Revelation 22:14,15). The New Testament also makes it very clear that homosexuals will not go to Heaven unless they repent of their sin. The apostle Paul wrote: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Read also 1 Timothy 1:8-10). The word "sodomite" is sometimes used to describe homosexuals. Can homosexuals be saved? God loves all people (John 3:16). He wants everyone to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). Homosexuals can be saved in the same way that other sinners are saved. They must hear and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:17; John 8:24). They must repent of all their sins (Acts 2:38; 17:30, 31). This means that they will stop their evil practice of homosexuality. They must confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Acts 8:37; Romans 10-.10). Then they must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38- Romans 6:3,4). Notice what Paul said about homosexuals and other evil-doers at Corinth who had obeyed the Gospel: "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of our Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11). When they became Christians, they stopped their sinful practices. This shows people can change. Great pressure is placed upon Christians by society to ignore sin. It is not popular to take a stand against sin today. Neither was it popular for the prophets in the Old Testament to stand against sin, but they did it anyway! It was not easy for the Christians in the first century to preach the Gospel to the heathen world, but they did it! It will not be easy today, but we must obey God (Acts 5:29). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Truth for the World is a mission work of the churches of Christ. Myth: God is opposed to homosexuality. There are two Biblical prohibitions cited repeatedly, by those claiming homosexuality is condemned by God, hence should remain illegal. They are Leviticus 20:13 & Romans 1:26/27. Taken out of context, Leviticus would certainly seem to prohibit homosexuality: 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads'. A look at the violations punishable by death in the same chapter of Leviticus, however, tells a different story: ** 'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death.' Leviticus 20:9 ** 'If a man commits adultery with another man's wife - with the wife of his neighbor - both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.' Leviticus 20:10 ** 'If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.' Leviticus 20:11 ** 'If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to death. What they have done is perversion; their blood will be on their own heads.' Leviticus 20:12 ** 'If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal.' Leviticus 20:15 ** If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it, kill both the woman and the animal. Leviticus 20:16 (note: the man has to do it, but the woman need only approach.) ** 'A man or a woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death.' Leviticus 20:27 ** 'Anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD msut be put to death.' Leviticus 24:16 Paul's message echoes Jesus most accurately, speaking of certain "Christain" leaders, who discuss homosexuality, and quote the bible out of context, to do so: 'You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things.' Romans 2:1 Amen! So, it's easy to see that, in context, the always-quoted-out-of-context admonition against homosexuality is hardly God singling out gays for special punishment. (It's God's children, who single out gays for punishment!)

what occured to me at every arguement of the letter, is that all of this is totally irrelevant unless you actually believe in god and the bible people have been interpreting the bible to mean whatever they damn well please for centuries, and it's nauseating to hear people say they know the one true meaning especially because even if they didn it's just a fucking book me, I believe in "the sneetches and other stories" (morals I can believe in)

As far as my comments go...I was quoting the bible. Believe what you will. I do! What do I believe? I believe in me! Whether I believe in the Bible or not, is a whole separate topic. However, I find that sometimes, the things I believe in, do coincide with the teachings of the bible. I guess that I do know the Bible, and that can't be helped. It was drilled into my brain at a very early age, so it's hard to 'forget', not that I approve of everything I was taught, or agree with any of it, for that matter. Hell, I have questioned God's existence, for some time. My comments were directed to/for those who might happen to believe in 'the good book'.

I have to tell you, the email that you recived was very interesting to read, but only becuase its so fantasicly stupid. Sure, its ok to have your own beliefs, and your own religious morals, but WHY do i have to hear um ya kno, But then, theres something quite coinicidental about all this though, because on this 'ihateitwhenpeoplepreach', everyone of us nearly, including I, have preached a bit of our own beliefs here. And the only reason none of YOU noticed is because all of you agreed with each other. Hmmm, funny i guess.

ok i get your point and everything, but i've never forced my opinions/beliefs on someone. i have however, voiced my opinions. i think it's a different story to say "you're going to hell if you don't believe in my god" than to say "this is what i believe, but i respect your beliefs too." I've recieved the first comment in many forms, and because this is blather, i decided to voice my opninions on it, to say how i felt about recieving this email. (even though i'm not gay, it makes me mad that gay people have to put up with this, and that others feel this way about gay people.) i've never told someone that they were wrong for being gay. i've never told someone that what they believed was bullshit and my religion is the RIGHT religion. when people do those sorts of things, i get upset. i've had *discussions* about my beliefs with people. i refuse to have a discussion with someone who automatically tells me that if i don't become their relgion, i'm going to die a horrible death and suffer harshly in the afterlife. that's not a discussion, that is having people preach to me.

Why can't we all just GET ALONG?! People who have problems with other people doing things that don't hurt anyone else should be slapped. With a brick. No, not really. But they should shut up and leave 'em alone. People have a right to be who they want. But then again, don't the psycho preachers? I guess we all just have to try to put up with each other. Although, sometimes I do have entertaining visions of the xenophobic preacher people being sent back to ancient Rome, and seeing how they like it. People are so irritating sometimes. BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE, AND DON'T BUG EACH OTHER ABOUT IT! But then, aren't I bugging you all about how I think you should be yourselves? I hate it when I realize I'm contradicting myself... Take it or leave it. There we go. I think y'all should be yourselves, but that's just my opinions. (There, I feel much better)
