i could start one. we could start one. all in flavour raise your left hand and say awhhhhhhhhh! or stand on your tip top toes and sing like a virgin or step into my coach and tell me about your lovers okay getting serious now, i'd like to begin the begin we could start a few even, if anyone else wants to start another one as well please don't let me discourage you. it would be cool to get a few going. i have some (i think nice) ideas for the paper, cover, and binding, weight consideration and stuff. we could tag it with a name, so it doesn't get mixed up with any of the other journey books it could be any kind of name or a sequence of numbers or something input is most welcome, tell me how not to make it or what not to do if there are specific no-nos i should take into my mind. i would try to make it available to the first participrint in the month of February. you can email me with comments or suggestions, or just to tell me to get a rifle. is_mise_mon@yahoo.ca .peace peepla.

we could call it 'thoth', after the Egyptian god of writing. I'm in this time.

I like the idea of setting a few in motion; we could have a blatherskite book, like the previous ones, and then also maybe perhaps a few others randomly started by various blatherskites, and then, like 1000journals.com, release them into the wild, pointing people to this (or another non-blather) page.. whatch'all think?

it would also be nice if, when the blatherskite book is received by someone with a scanner, if they could scan the pages in, then everyone could get a look in.. I think this would attract more people as they notice the diversity of ways of communicating that, sadly, blather lacks. (did that make sense?)

Oooo! pick me! pick me! I am so excited, yay! Me, me, me, me. Plus everyone else too. (thoth reminds me of sloth. i like it) ps, i know what you mean, u24. people don't like to talk to blatherers in the real world, it might upset their sense of freedom in our blather sanctuary.

well I think if we do it the same way that the previous books were done.. which, as far as I can remember, involved getting a list of everyone who wants to be part of it, grouping participants by location, and then kick it off - participants can be added later and plonked on the end of the list. if anyone from previously started books have any ideas, please share !

thanks for your ideas 24, and the enthusiasm everyone i am willing to buy and make materials to bind a book, i could use hemp paper or something nice? with hemp stitching, and a nice book cloth for the cover, or, if there is any specific artwork or anything that people want to send me or give me an idea of a design for the name or whatever for the front and/or back. or, if someone wants to take the book from me after i am done with the basic binding and continue with making its cover. ?any ideas? maybe we could each start a book and start them circulating, perhaps that would be less complicated. they could have a basic uniform look/size but with different names of course and different cover art. in fact they could be quite simple, a book you buy and fancy up a bit with a label or something you make/bind by hand. i think the important thing is to make sure it is not too heavy so people don't pay outrageous postage on it. and also, as u24 was saying, keep a record of the journey via scanning and news updates. i can see a bunch of books travelling the globe scribbles all o'er 'em just some thoughts. there were more but i forget now, will think some more. zzzz

ooh! ooh! me me me me me! Yes, I am reverting to three-year-old mode, but if that's what it takes to be part of a blather_journey_book, then back to 1991 it is! So, yeah, I definitely wanna be a part of this. Email me or something if I can help at all. *curtseys respectfully*

given what you just said about length of time to get the books, how about we chunk participants into groups of 10, then, when everyone's added, it can go round one more time and then we swap books with another chunk of people. that way, everyone gets to see other people's entries (because otherwise the first person won't see anyone's entries) and it ensures a short circulation time. and also, anyone who has a scanner can scan and upload to a yahoo photo album. We'd need a list of people, along with locations, so we can start chunking people according to where they are. - UK.

I am totally in like Flynn. I can be in one of two chunks, depending on the time of year I get the book: March-early Sept.: West coast US chunk (California) All other months: East coast US chunk (Boston)

again i plead utter irresponsibility, i would love to participate but i wouldn't want to risk the journey book getting eaten by the chaos in this neck of the woods... a suggestion for keeping postage down, though, is there any way that you could do some sort of binder, where each person adds their own piece(s) of paper? or would that make it no longer a "book" and take away from the flow/unity? will have to wait 'til blathercon to see it...

I like the binder idea!! sounds less messy and you can easily add your own stuff to it that way! if we do a Binder then I'm in, other wize this sounds a bit daunting and messy

um, well i am going to start a stitched book with a medium weight paper that people can paste stuff onto or draw on i think a binder is a good idea if someone wants to start one that would be cool! just hope nobody takes out and or changes the order of pages as it gets passed around.

well, there's only 3 people in UK signed up so far; u24 silently broken DannyH if anyone's relatively close (ie: europe) then sign up now. so, just to clarify, if we were going to do a seperately started book, it'd go something like this: u24 to silently broken silently broken to DannyH DannyH to u24 u24 to silently broken silently broken to DannyH DannyH to nomme (or someone closer) and from nomme, it'd do the US round(s) while the US book (once it's gone round everyone) would come over here. And so forth. Or does that sound too complicated/long winded? Perhaps we should leave the grouping idea until there's more people? what dy'all think? by the way, silently broken, ever been to Stirling? I've applied to uni there, just wondering what it's like. :P

pocket pages maybe, I'd shy away from using a binder, mainly because I don't think it'd look as good as a book.

aye my flatmates mate goes there. He likes it a lot so I assume its pretty good, Ive yet to pay a visit to their union though :) I like the idea of each adding something to the cover, could be our own tag or something so that the front cover becomes a list of contributors, could be pretty cool, looking forward to starting this project. Another idea would be after it has visited the list we already have on this tiny page, to start at the end of the Blather_journey_book_2 list and work up, so that the ones that dont have a hope in hell of getting book 2 until 2006 (!) get this one and its works its way backwards through this list, may require some co-ordination with starter of book 2??? Just an idea?

blather_big_fat_envelope_project sounds like a really good idea. i've wanted to start a book, i've wanted others to start books, but so far...that hasn't happened. maybe it will still happen. personally, i think i just have too much on the go right now to get it going in any near foreseeable future. maybe the big stuufed envelope idea would happen a lot quicker,...plus,..it would be cheaper and easier to scan. ideas? thoughts? questions? jokes?

I think it'd be fun to mail a blatherbox around, with random crap from each one of us. Sort of the thing they do with geocaching: each visitor opens the box, puts something in, and takes something out.
