* a_point_in_time- Ksitigarbha * 'I am going to talk briefly on this matter for the benefit of all sentient beings of the present and future generations.' "O, Your Excellency, if any sentient being in the future or at present should be able, at the end of his life, to hear the name of a Buddha or of a Bodhisattva or of a Pratyekabuddha, he will gain deliverance and liberation, whether he is sinful or innocent. Should some men or women not cultivate good karmic causes and commit many sins while living, but should their relatives—whether junior or senior— perform, on their behalf, all the blissfu l, beneficial sacraments, then one out of every seven parts of the meritorious virtue thus gained will go to the dead person, while six parts will go to the living themselves. For this reason, good men and good women of the future and the present should cultivate themselves while they are still healthy so that they may gain every part of such meritorious virtue.

*** * Spiritual Power *** The Wonderful Adornments Of The Leaders Of The Worlds:- "At one the time the Buddha was in the land of Magadha, in a state of purity, at the site of enlightenment, having just realized true awareness. The ground was solid and firm, made of diamond, adorned with exquisite jewel discs and myriad precious flowers, with pure clear crystals. The Ocean of Characteristics of the various colors appeared over an infinite extent. There were banners of precious stones, constantly emitting shining light and producing beautiful sounds. Nets of myriad gems and garlands of exquisitely scented flowers hung all around. The finest jewels appeared spontaneously, raining inexhaustible quantities of gems and beautiful flowers all over the Earth. There were rows of jewel trees, their branches and foliage lustrous and luxuriant. By the Buddha’s spiritual power, he caused all the adornments of this enlightenment sight to be reflected therein. The tree of enlightenment was tall and outstanding. Its trunk was diamond, its main boughs were semi-precious stones, its branches and twigs were of various precious elements. The leaves, spreading in all directions, provided shade, like clouds. The precious blossoms were of various colors, the branching twigs spread out their shadows. Also, the fruits were jewels containing a blazing radiance. They were together with the flowers in great arrays. The entire circumference of the tree emanated light; within the light there rained precious stones, and within each gem were enlightened beings, in great hosts, like clouds, simultaneously appearing. Also, by virtue of the awesome spiritual power of the Buddha, the tree of enlightenment constantly gave forth sublime sounds speaking various truths without end."

"He expounded all truths, like spreading great clouds. Each of his hair tips was able to contain all worlds without interference, in each manifesting immeasurable spiritual powers, teaching and civilizing all sentient beings. His body extended throughout the ten directions, yet without coming or going. His knowledge entered into all forms and realized the emptiness of things. All the miraculous displays of the Buddhas of past, present, and future, were all seen in his light, and all the adornments of inconceivable eons were revealed."

*** * Wisdom and Dharma *** Lotus_Sutra: CHAPTER TWO EXPEDIENT DEVICES "The wisdom of all the Buddhas is extremely profound and unlimited." "As to that foremost, rare, and hard-to-understand Dharma accomplished by the Buddha--only the Buddhas and the Buddha can exhaust the Real Mark of all Dharmas, that is to say, with regard to all Dharmas: the suchness of the marks, the suchness of the nature, the suchness of the substance, the suchness of the power, the suchness of the function, the suchness of the causes, the suchness of the conditions, the suchness of the effects, and suchness of the retributions, and the suchness of the ultimate equality from beginning to end."

At that time, the World Honored One, wishing to restate his meaning, spoke verses, saying,... "The Dharma of all Buddhas is like this: By means of millions of expedients, I speak Dharma in accord with what’s appropriate. But those who do not study it, Will never come to understand it. Since all of you already know All Buddhas, Masters of the World, Work by means of appropriate expedients, You should have no further doubts. Let your hearts be filled with joy; You know you will reach Buddhahood."

Furthermore, he has ultimate and clear understanding of all Dharmas, and he instructs living beings in all-wisdom."

*** * Earnest wish and alms giving *** The Tathagata Vairocana of the Saha-world,who from the beginning, when He made an earnest wish (for obtaining Buddhahood, in order to deliver all beings),and having made the exquisite advance by unremittingly skilful exertion, and sacrificed His lives and bodies, inunutterable and countless number, for the sake of alms-giving. He stripped off His own skin for parchment, used His own blood for ink, and His bones for writing instruments. Thus the scripture have been written in bulk asgreat as Mount Sumeru. In appreciation of the Dharma, Hewould disregard the royal throne, dominions, palaces, gardens, and all that appertained to him. He spared no energy in his arduous career and pains taking, until He accomplished the great Bodhi under the tree (The “Tree” is the sacred Bodhi Tree, under which the Lord Buddha Sakyamuni attained Enlightenment and became the Buddha).

*** * Life Span *** CHAPTER SIXTEEN THE THUS COME ONE'S LIFE SPAN AT THAT TIME the Buddha spoke to the Bodhisattvas and the entire great assembly, saying, "The Thus Come One knows and sees the triple realm as it really is. There is no birth or death, no retreating or advancing, no existence in the world or passage into quiescence. There is no reality or unreality, no likenesses or differences. He views the triple realm as not being the triple realm. Matters such as these, the Thus Come One clearly sees, without mistake or error. "Living beings have various natures, various desires, various modes of conduct, and various ideas, thoughts, and discriminations. Wishing to lead them to produce the roots of goodness, he employs divers causes and conditions, analogies, and expressions to explain the various dharmas, carrying out the Buddha’s work without respite. "Thus since I realized Buddhahood in the very remote past, my life span has been limitless asamkhyeyas of eons, eternal and never extinguished."

When the Buddha reveals the mundane and supramundane, He knows their chief causes and concurrent conditions. He is even clear about the number of drops of rain in a place as many miles away from here as there are sand grains in the Ganges, as well as why pine trees arc straight and brambles crooked, geese white and crows black.

*** * The Commendation Of Human Beings *** At that time, the World Honored One raised his golden-hued arms, and, touching "Bodhisattva"-Mahasattva Ksitigarbha"s head, uttered the following words: "O Ksitigarbha, all the sentient beings in southern Jambudvipa Realm are unpredictable in their wills and dispositions. Most of them are accustomed to evildoing (Evil_Deed). Even if they decide to do good, they may retreat from their good intentions in an instant. Surrounded by evil environmental conditions, their evil wills increase and intensify moment by moment. For this reason, I transform myself into hundreds of thousands of millions of other forms to convert, deliver, release and liberate them in accordance with their respective roots and dispositions." "Thereupon, the Buddha, from His lion-seat, sent out from the five members of His body, rays of light which reached and shone on the heads of the Tathagatas ("Tathagata") and Bodhisattvas ("Bodhisattva") countless as dust in the ten directions ("Ten_Directions"). In return countless Tathagatas sent back rays of light which shone on the heads of the Buddha, great Bodhisattvas and Arhats in the assembly, causing the groves and streams to intone the Dharma and un-countable rays of light to interlace in precious nets, a spectacle never seen before."

to teach by example that your actions alone could bring another realization that is powerfully majestic indeed or my favorite: the reality of interdependence that your actions your words your intent affect all, even yourself because there is no difference between you and the life around you our perception creates our suffering; we all suffer we all want an end to that suffering

Perception comes from the self though, so if one is to open their mind maybe suffering becomes less? Keeping an open mind seems to detract ignorance, however without tolerance and patience (with yourself and others) you're not going to get very far. Trusting in yourself is better than being told what to believe or how to live your life.

if you open your mind you realize that suffering is limitless so there is no need to rail against it. it is the perception your ego forces on you of any given situation that makes it seem like the most important and consuming thing in the universe, when really it's just a drop in the sea. the buddha's power comes from the fact that he sat under a tree and realized this and then taught it to others. good teachers know how to say the same thing a million different was. verses of the dhammapada are some of the most beautiful poetry i know.
