one sure fire way to do this is to stick_your_finger_way_up_your_ass and then tell everyone you meat what a grate time you had. also, be an incessant shit raker - you'd be surprise how many people really need to jump and stand up for what is 'right'. feel the love, baby

I find it pretty amusing myself that anyone would assume that criticism is an indicator of lack of creative capacity. It is a statement made without any empirical evidence to back it and without a single intuitive indicator from which to draw any such conclusion. Indeed I found this criticism extremely creative inasmuch as it was pulled from the deepest recesses of our dear spork's tookus and is obviously the creation of a fertile imagination.

It's not that they think criticism denotes a lack of creativity, they are saying that most people who critisize a lot do not have any ideas, just a running mouth that smiles and waves for the crowds. That's why it can make you friends and influence people. i.e. 'hi, i believe all black people should be shot.' unfortunatley, someone who says this would gain a lot of friends, and in this case a lot of enemies too. But some people like to walk on top of fences, and wave to people on both sides. They'll lean over to one side and critisize the others. Then lean over to the other side and critisize the people he just talked to. gladly, people fall off the fence with a gusty breeze, and then everyone hates them. But, if only temporarily, it will win friends and influence people. What disgusts me is people that make careers or lives out of doings this. you can fool some of the people some of the time..... and unfortunately, there's always more people out there to fool. bakas. baka baka baka

Very nicely put. Would you say that criticism in and of itself requires no creativity then? Would you say critical reaction is devoid of inspiration? IF you (or our fine blather originator up there) feel that critique is not art, then I'm afraid you are either terribly misinformed or simply mistaken. The oft-times brilliant output of the satirical genre alone points out the fallacy of that viewpoint.

Much of what people create in forms of music, art, or writing is criticizing material either directly or indirectly. People write songs, poetry, & novels criticizing society, organizations, politics, other people etc. Art itself is a critique. Paintings have been created criticizing beliefs, and emphasizing other ones. Those of us who love art or who are studying art know how important it is to receive criticism. Frankly it's boring without having someone on the opposite end of the spectrum. How to win friends and influence people? State your beliefs and show who you are if you dare. Some will flock to your side, others won't.

Both of you are very correct. I was simply trying to reveal more what the cleverly satired state spork was saying, or at least, what I percieved he was saying. Criticism is very necessary, especially to the creative, and is also a tool of the creative. Inherently, I don't believe that criticism contains creativity, not to any great degree. It's people who provide creative criticism. A criticism is really an opinion comparing things. examples: society to what it should be, one movie to another, or even of one culture to another, etc. And all of us, being dualistic in nature, i.e. our minds are comparitive, it's one of the greatest ways of expressing, and expressing is also creative, though expressing in and of itself isn't inherently creative either. I believe, it's humans that add creation to things (after all, we define what creation is anyway), and spork was simply critisizing those who don't add creation to criticism. I'm sure spork just loves my hacked judgements of him/her, and i'm sorry, i was only creating examples. It's impossible to act with out first judging. So I don't really understand how you can't 'judge' someone. I suppose that's a wanted synonym for PREjudgement for all future consequences, not just the present. examples should present themselves everywhere. I liked what sonya said in the last two lines of her blathe. Though belonging, and friends are also created by people, friends prove themself so invaluable in aspects even outside of what humans have created, that, i think they exempt from that criticism. And that's my creative criticism. Not greatly creative, but, i tried.

i take no offense to your reactions, Grievance the point i have been trying to make is that certain criticisms that have been leveled around here from certan parties go beyond the normal bounds of what could be called hypocrisy Daffy and his self proclaimed need to "deflate the self_indulgent" became just as self serving the minute he declared it as his intention and no, admitting to the hypocrisy doesn't excuse it or make it cute if you really beieved all of what you were saying Daf, you wouldn't have to rationalize it to everyone each time someone decides to challenge you on it if your position was really as justified as you would like us all to believe, you wouldn't have to defend it so often (and yes, underneath it all you come across as being pretty defensive about it) the biggest load of crap and the thing that provoked me the most was when you decided to share that little tidbit about someone emailing you and asking you to walk in their shoes, to which you responded that you had, but that unlike them you had done it with some dignity you traded whatever dignity you spoke of the minute you said that there's no dignity in talking to people as if they are some sort of defective for not viewing the world through the same rose-colored glasses as you and someone else who wants to call me a shit_raker should have thought about it before they went off on their little tirade yeah, i've got your rocket science swinging right here, pal. oh yeah, "Thought Provoking?" please when i see your name attached to a blathe, the only thought you provoke in me is usually "aww jesus, who's he fucking with this time?" you're either so intesely high on yourself that the smell of the shit you shovel never reaches you or you are secretly so desperate for kicks that you feel the need to bag on people just to feel validated i only went this route becuse i was tired of you trying to say you've never specifically taken shots at any one particular person but are only speaking in general terms even though most of these little run-ins you've had with other blatherers have started right after you have responded to people's personal blathes with the usual crap about how stupid/wrong/self_indulgent they are for not being as cheery as you BLATHERER A: "i feel bad because [insert personal setback here]" DAFFY: "WAAAAAH folx, WAAAAAH, you see people like BLATHERER A here are sto0pid for not having the same ridiculous quantities of sunshine falling out of their ass as me, d0od, i'm tellin ya all these whiners...(snip for brevity)...i swear it really gets my dog_boots in a twist" BLATHERER A responds minutes/hours/days later: "fuck you Daffy" DAFFY: (insert further lengthy tirade belittling BLATHERER A even more for taking offense when chances are BLATHERER A felt as if this was the only safe place to get something off their chest, throw in a few "do0d"s and "folx"s here and there with a little more condescension thrown in on top of it and ...voila!)

GO SPORK! in favor of underdogs everywhere, i think the spork's point of view was very nicely put and as long as we all stop RIGHT HERE and do not attack one another any more, we will all be fine. Daf, you seem intelligent enough to know that we all are a little bit tired of being belittled and somewhat ridiculed. cut it out. all of you. this includes me.
