I think that is a plausable thought for the shallow thinker, but as someone who invests a great deal of time in contemplating the mysteries of the universe and goes a little bit deeper in arranging new combinations of old ideas, I have this to say: A good deed helps, benefits ALL of US. There is WAY more to our morality than just controlable peasants, and easily collected taxes. Think about it. [if] We are beings of light (purer energy) wrapped in a beautiful shell of matter (our bodies). There is a lot of energy bundled up in One human. Tremendous power when compared to the amount of energy it takes for the universe to support a squirrel. Also, we can visibly see the effects of positive or negative choices we make, and how we decide to behave, our morality. We can see the difference between the person who goes through life with a bad attitude, and one who goes through life with a good attitude. We see how that affects not only that person, but everyone they come in contact with. The point is, when you look at the grand_scheme_of_things , it becomes clear that all things are related to one another. So if you affect one thing, eventually you've changed the entire universe. So if you take something with a moderate amount of power, say, a word. You can make this word good or bad, it can create, or it can destroy. You decide, but when you do release that word into the universe, remember that it will change the entire thing. So try to contribute, rather than destroy, it will make for a nicer life for YOU and U. 010814 ... dB Sometimes the effect of the word is unknown. We do not know how we will effect U. So, sometimes, it is best to watch and learn before you do anything. Humans are so good at learning, yet, many of them are so self righteous that they believe that they needn't learn and they don't have to listen. They are too proud. It made me think of another thing humans are really good at: Adaptation. When you continuously do "The Right Thing" you get better at it. "Practice_makes_perfect" And you also grow to be more intuned to the effects of what you are doing. But there must come a time to act. We can learn to listen, we can learn to adapt, but I fear that mankind is reaching a crossroads. We can either continue on this spiral of violence and blindedness, or we can turn it around, and become something better.
