I saw a documentary about autism the other night. Telltale signs: Withdrawn from society, arranges things in patterns, especially lined up like soldiers - and the big kahuna - can't make or keep eye contact. of course, there are varying degrees of severity, each having more or less attributes, but I seem to fit the basic requirements. I wonder if I should be concerned?

We are all autistic in our own ways, it's sad that all these little diseases doctors invent for the way people are, People are people. hundreds of years ago when people we're born with autism they were just thought to be different. Not diseased. Don't let falsification thru Classification Deny you freedom in your everyday Disposition of life.

You said it Israel man i feel like gettin' up and with my eyes wide and sayin' in that ol' baptist way..."Say it! Go on!" and then you know stomp, do a shoulder shiver, fan myself with one of those ubiquitous paper thin church fans and pant prayerfully yes lord YES LAWD. and then sit down all composed as if nothing just happened. ...

but then because of my own mild form of what i think is a kind of autism or inability to process certain emotions, i would probably just nod soberly even though inside i'm saying man he/she really broke it DOWN ya'll!! ...

I work with autistic kids. They are all completely different from each other in every way. Some wont touch you, others wont let go. Some speak, others do not. Some are nice, some are hurtful.

one of my students works with autistic kids. she came to her lesson a couple weeks ago and was so shaken up that she just turned around and left. the kid was having a rough day, kicking and biting and spitting. my cousin has an autistic baby. smart as hell little ethan is. and a little shit too. the teacher in me is drawn to the kids that need the most help.

(clarification: my cousin started taking lithium when she was 13 or 14; she took lithium during her pregnancy with ethan. never 'medically proven' that that is what caused his autism, but i am willing to bet. just one of the many reasons that to this day i refuse to take pills for my 'mental problems')

ethan is a little genius. he knows more geography and state capitals than most adults. the last time i saw him, he had drawn a baseball diamond on the sidewalk in his backyard and was directing all the adults on where to stand and what to do. 'you go in the outfield nikki. grandpa you are the pitcher. i hit.' it was pretty fucking adorable watching me, my parents, my grandpa, and my aunt and uncle play baseball with him. the dog even got into it by stealing the ball.

In the autism support system there seems to be a paradoxical attitude. First, there is the desire to normalize the autistic and acquire their social acceptance on grounds that their 'way' is neither better nor worse, just different. Then comes the exaltation of the autistic as possessors of deific intelligence, combined with apathy towards or obfuscation of the autist's supreme shortage of wisdom. So, which is it? "We're all basically the same" or "we're all remarkably different?"

i teach kids with varying degrees of autism and asperger's. my little second cousin is autistic. i find them to be super sweet, amazingly smart kids. the adults in their lives just need to find the niche that they are good at, pretty much just like any other child. in my experience with autistic people, they are more tuned in. genius. they don't carry around the garbage that most of us do. they just aren't capable of the same kind of social conditioning. i value honesty above most everything. the autistic people i've had contact with are beautifully honest. that's what i meant when i said: genius pure fucking genius

so is there no value to social conditioning, then? is being socially adaptable not worthy of admiration? how valuable is monomaniacal knowledge about a limited set of subjects if one cannot integrate this knowledge with the world as a whole?

i didn't say that there wasn't any value in social conditioning. i also didn't say that autistic people are incapable. but often times, social conditioning is just another phrase for conformity. to tell 'little white lies' because somehow honesty has become incorrect. the severely autistic don't have those kinds of filters in their brains and on their actions and words and it is refreshing to be with people that are not afraid to tell the truth. i don't have much of a filter on me when it comes to telling the truth. i get that 'now don't be afraid to tell us how you really feel' bullshit all the time.

http://www.sheilashea.com/candida.html Candida and Dental Mercury Connection Candida converts the element mercury to methyl mercury which is 100 times more toxic. Mercury chelation might deliver more mercury to the system temporarily allowing the candida-methyl mercury conversion. Bacteria should die in the face of mercury but instead converts it for its own survival. For more details on dental mercury read Dr Huggins book It's all in your Head. Candida and Autism. Metabolites of candida and claustridia are found in urine samples of children with autism at Dr. Shaw's Great Plains Laboratory. I worked with a six to seven year old child, neurologically delayed and originally diagnosed with autism. She tested high for candida and clostridia in her GI tract. Her parents used colon hydrotherapy, and nystatin, worked with Shaw and were aware of the SCD diet.
