how_to_detect_a_blather_newbie
old school . 1. As soon as they figure out how to create blathes, they do it in such alarming profusion that even kx21 gets exasperated.

2. The blathes they create have no underscores, because they haven't figured that out yet, sothetitlesalwaysreadlikethis.

3. They never realize that the blathe they just so proudly created has already been made, ad nauseum, by other blatherskites.

4. They don't know what a "blatherskite" is, but it sounds neat.

5. "HEY GUYS DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN CLICK ON THE LITTLE CLUSTER OF BLUE SQUARES IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER?!"

6. They are still trying to figure out how to register so that they can use the site.

7. They want to know if there is some way to see recent blathes.

8. They feel thrilled and privileged to add their bright blue pixels to the "blather" page.

9. They don't know who kx21 is, or why there are so many pages with external Yahoo links, but they hope the whole site isn't like this.

10. They are astounded when they figure out the link system, and painstakingly attempt to tell their friends about it, none of whom are interested in the slightest.

Please contribute yours.

dafremen Man, was that number 10 true. Those ingrates. Maybe they sensed something I should have. 050414

Loopo hmmmmmm................

this is a place where "newbs" "losers" and "dorks" can speak freely...lets not take that away...

i ♥ my cock we have all been new here once, people who complain about new blatherskites need to remember that and to pour themselves a nice tall glass of "shut the fuck up" is what i'm sayin' 050415
...
old school . complaining about the complainers...

Anyway, it wasn't a complaint, so please do not misinterpret.

It was meant to be witty, and for all of the not-newbies to look back and when they were like that.

old school girl nice reflection.

Blatherskite birth ensures the continuation of our blue-red world respectively, long after the old school has lost its voice.

u24 oh fuck off, this never was a community, and there's no such thing as a newbie.

what blather is isn't set in stone, it's constantly evolving, every time we visit blather, it's changed, we are constantly re-discovering blather and therefore are all newbies.

misstree i didn't see any "god damn newbie" stuff in there... just kinda like smiling at a kid who just got a new toy...

and my two cents is the constant calls for chat... "anyone here???" "let's talk!" and things like that...

and you can pick out newbies when they get startled when the old foagies get cranky. ;)

"kids these days! typing like letters grow on trees! why, when i was knee high to a pixel, i *thought* about at least every fifth word!*

is entertained in a lighthearted way, for once...

mt and, u24 darlin', might i pick yer brain as to your reasoning behind why you don't consider this a community? not looking for argument (least, not yet), but just realized i really don't know where to draw the line between community and non-, and, well, you're convenient and fun to poke. 050416

"the originator" check your email, u24, I've responded to you there 050416

andru235 perhaps it was meant well;

as a quasi-newbie it came off as,
"just like everywhere else in Mortalandia, the merit of one's thoughts and visits are based upon tenure, not content"

and that isn't so much 'mean' as it is 'par for the course'

but i guess i reveal myself to be the quasi-newbie i am (and seem to always be wherever I go, despite the millenia): i have re-iterated, in a variant fashion, a post that had cometh prior

not found Why does one need to be detected at all?

Newbies seem to add to the dynamics of blather just as all do. I appreciate the fluidity of old melding with new and the manner in which both play off of each other.

I would be concerned much more with
"how_to_detect_a_stale_blather"
because people were afraid to contribute their thoughts and opinions.

I understand this was all probably in good humor, but I would hate to see anyone feel as if they were not welcomed here. I have much to learn from many varieties of people.

Strideo I got a little chuckle out of this this first time I read it. I don't really see much reason to take it seriously though.

number 10 really does ring true for me however. I remember trying to tell friends about blather and how it had all these links to other blathes and how cool and unique it was but there wasn't much understanding or interest on their part.

SleepieCloud I know that this is wrong. Because doing the same thing and expecting different results is stupid, but every year I tell at least one new person.

I've tried different ways.
Some I explain it all to and then sit there while they explore a bit on their own. Some I just show them the magic and leave them... none of them stay.
I wonder if I will try again next year.
