"what do you look for in a man?" i ask strategically. "a good sense of humor," she says in mock oblivion. "oh, like mine?"..............silence.

"Girls just wanna have fun". They invariably describe a desirable guy as being able to make them laugh. It's right up there next to a cute ass. Guys are thrilled to find a girl who'll actually laugh at their stupid jokes. Maybe it's laughter that's the key to love - not pheromones after all :-) ³

I think it was Bertrand Russell who said that we laugh whenever a person acts like a thing. Then again, there are four kinds: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. Blood, for laughter and passion; phlegm, for dull thinking and slowness; yellow bile, for anger; black bile, for sadness and depression. Today we think this is humorous.

what makes things funny? the question not understood... things just are or they aren't and that's all there is to it once I read a story where someone discovered that nobody ever knew where jokes came from and those made up by people were always deemed non-funny (puns and such, universally hated), so he decided that jokes came from outer space, as an experiment on the human mind by aliens but that ended the experiment and nobody ever laughed again and then they say that the height of humor is the pratfall, it's funniest when people get hurt - but I don't like those jokes, it happens all the time in comedy movies, it's not funny, so that can't be it, the unexpected or unusual is funny... and on sitcoms they tell you when to laugh... the character briefly pauses to give you time to laugh, before they even finish talking you can tell the punchline's coming, then the predictable laughter, always sounding the same, as people become drones
