my moms boyfriend uses it in his coffee, and apparently they had a big fight about it, and now mom buys 2% milk, and he buys whole. more and more segregation.

Love it when you order soy and they give you whole milk. Surley a mistake on their part, but not very funny when you're spewing 2 hours later.

Ugh! Skiiim! Yuck! Full cream all the way. I took a 1L carton into a lecture once and finished it. I had to rip the carton open though because the straw wouldn't reach the bottom.

but then that makes beany water 20 times better than watery beans? And on whose head does the watery beanie fit? Are we counting "Beanies" too? (those crappy imitation smarties, with MILK chocolate) Because Smarties are 10 times better than beanies, and 2 times better than M&Ms. But watery beanies would have to be 10 times worse than watery smarties, but probably only 2 times as worse as watery milk.

to settle some matters: whole milk might as well be classified as a solid...skim milk does taste like water, but it still delivers its protein punch. Soymilk does taste like beany water, and not good beans either. It's only good when it's sweetened in some way. Or in smoothies...otherwise good luck

soy milk varies per brand- I recommend soy dream once you get past about age 5 you stop making the enzymes which break down lactose, so the bacteria in your intestines break it down for you, and are nice enough to produce copious of gas in exchange for this treat

I myself drink 2% milk and I myself say JUST SAY NO TO SOY! It can give one gas enough to run a large truck from the east coast to the west coast drink another glass and you can drive back

Whell... it's like this. Yes, beans cause gas, but your body can get used to it, and will no longer produce gas if you drink soy milk semi regularly. (I found this to be personally true) On the other hand, more that 70% of people lack enough of the enzyme lactase, and as I explained earlier, this causes gas, and does Not go away. (You really don't want to be around me if I've decided to have real cheese) and let's talk about calcium- the fat in cow's milk (especially whole, of course) makes it hard for your body to absorb much of the calcium, whereas the calcium in soy milk is absorbed readily. and just so you know, I was raised on whole milk, a glass every night at dinner. i just recently discovered that gas wasn't just a way of life, on my own. and this concludes tonight's propaganda.

tastes rich and warm, like a hug. skim milk is too anorexic, too blue. i drink 2%, simple because that's what my mom fed us as kids. it's something you get used to, middle class going nowhere, tasteless, while everyone else is extreme.

It isn't necessarily gross, just richer. Depends on taste. But try eggs maybe, too. They're also protein-rich and slightly basic (as in, a base rather than an acid). I don't know how long it's been since I've had whole milk. I don't drink ordinary milk anymore, and I only drink the lactose-free kind at breakfast because it's expensive. Lactose intolerance, that's all (that's what gave me stomach cramps and at one point trouble sleeping last year, sick_and_tired, nothing very exotic, inherited from my mother). A bother, but I can still eat dark chocolate, and I feel like I was weaned at last, at 24 instead of 2. I'm not sucking the nipples of the universe anymore... though I hear the universe has curves in all the right places... I'm partly agreeing with daxle here, but what I've heard isn't so much that lactose is hard for everyone to digest, but it's harder for some people than others; some cultures just don't have adults drinking milk, and among those that do, there's still genetic quirks or a problems with gastrointestinal flora (those pretty little bacteria in your stomach and intestines that aren't quite as cute as subatomic particles. Smaller is cuter.) A friend of mine had problems with dairy products (gassy, sore stomach, etc.) until she had to take an antibiotic for an unrelated infection, and afterwards she could eat them just fine. I don't know quite how that worked. In general, people recommend probiotics for better digestion; but we (general "we") don't know that much yet about the bacteria that normally live inside us. But this all is rather irrelevant. Soy milk is also good, though still expensive, because you can mix it with orange juice, which you can't do with normal milk (acid/base thing again).
