I thought that defeated the purpose. When I got to 9th grade, I had finally made peace with the fact that people were just going to call me Booger at one time or another. It's like a reflex. So, over the year, mainly in Physiology class, my nick went from Booger to Boog. Apparently, "what up, Boog?" just rolled off the tongue easier. When I got to undergrad, I continued my Russian studies, and, as in all foreign language courses, I was addressed as "Mikhail". But that had too many syllables and my prof, God love him, began to call me "Misha", which is the nick that continues to this day. But only with certain people. It's weird. Some people can call me Misha and I'm okay with that, but only because I know them really well.
