IKC 56-80 my mom and dad had a bunch of guests over last new year's and when i got home they were still there. my dad had all the stuff at the bar to make a vodka martini and he went ahead and let me sneak one from the batch he was making, big tumbler, ice, dry vermouth, Grey Goose vodka.

Let me put it this way, if it's an acquired taste, i won't be acquiring it anytime soon... and eyuughhh...olives...bleh

champagne, on the other hand is something i could get used to

is underage and mostly dry

misstree martini time! there are so many ways to do martinis... vodka is, imho, the only way to go, as opposed to gin. belvidere, preferably. dirty extra dry with an olive can be good if chilled well, though my favorite was belvidere, sweet vermouth, splash each chambord and gran marnier. garnish with lemon twist or squeezed quarter. marvel at its taste, sip it or fall down. 021128

IKC 56-80 i had ice-cream once that was flavored with grand marnier, nice and orangey... that sounds like a more appealing twist on a martini than what i had. i'll have to try it sometime

unhinged i guess i'm a poser when it comes to martinis but i can't stand vodka gin or vermouth without a little flavoring. (i still have flashbacks and/or tasteaversions to that night, that oh so special night, when i puked off the front porch) chocolate ones, cosmos, apple...yeah, they are all super yummy. maybe a little more expensive than my standard jack 'n' coke, but i guess i'm just going along with it. 030819

suicidalchinadoll analyzed the martini list at the jazz club last week.
going there is always amusing..if for no other reason than they're in a relatively run down part of town (not as bad as it gets mind you), but they still make you buy water in glass evian bottles. no..no tap water for you.
lets all make pretentious asses of ourselves. it'll be fun.

the most horriffic name on the martini list was the "cool trane"...
and those martinis tend to run a little dry.

z drinks that contain things other than gin, vermouth and olives are not a martini

replacing the gin with vodka, requires the addition of the modifier "vodka" to the name, resulting in "vodka martini"

all else is too sweet to even be considered.

Doar I agree with z, but I have to add a modifier, a splash of lime to bring the flavour out.

z if you must, let it be fresh squeezed, not rose's. (but that is technically not a martini) 080424

Doar nothing better than a quarter sliced lime, cupped and squeezed aroung the inside of the rim.
