It's really sad. Someone might post something dirty on this and ruin an innocent blathe. It makes me discouraged about people.

The rumors of blather's death have been greatly exaggerated for many years. How long you've been here, I don't know. Whether it's been a short time, or a long time, understand that what you knew, and what you know...both were and are very much alive. Now (although I'm bound to come off too preachy..ni modo) life..has never been a constant or definable thing. Yea, people have given it a shot, but all definitions come up short. Like life, blather itself has been in a constant state of evolution since its inception. In fact, read what the front page says..they just wanted to see what shape these words would take when left to their own devices. Blather itself is something..a force that is unlike any other I know of in cyberspace. It will not be dominated or driven by any one of us, because in a mechanistic way..it must represent all of us. That is its nature, its function and its apparent purpose. There have been times when some of us have taken certain issues in hand(like censorship and advertising), but always, in the end, blather decided what it would be from moment to moment. I'm not sure that even its creators imagined what it would become...or even (along with most of us) know what blather really is. Please don't take any of this to mean that there aren't people, including myself who don't understand what you mean, and empathize completely. Yes, there is great ugliness that faces us from blathe to blathe. But there is beauty too, and I challenge you to find those little nuggets...and to notice how wonderful they are to find among all of the rubbish. I'd like you to notice how much more meaningful those rare treasures are when u find them..and how much more beautifully they stand out in the garbage..than they did when surrounded by nothing but other gems.

yeah, whatever, ya old blowhard! ;) hey do you still use that old soundcard I sent you? Or was it a video card... Anyway, if blather is dying, then it is one of those soap opera deaths where it comes back in the next episode with a pathetic plot explanation. some of the oldest and most prolific still frolick here, and some of the middle aged ones too (like myself), though I'm as likely to post an opinoin as I am heartfelt words. I guess what we are saying is, if you don't like the blather weather, wait five minutes/weeks/months, or search the vast archives if you can't wait. I feel your vibe, but if we believe blather is dying, then the terrarists have already won!

There was a time when the recent page required one to scroll. Blathes moved so fast like conversations that did not need to be "verified."

Perhaps we should let it die. I doubt it would lift a finger to prevent my own demise.

but there have been times where skites have lifted a finger to prevent my demise, that i otherwise would not have known. blather people are some of my favorite people in the whole world. maybe we are happier; it seems like most of us don't bother to blathe so much when we are happy.

there's just so many other places to write on the internet now. Blather was fantastic technology 10 years ago. I mean, you type in words and you make your own website! But now, there's a lot of other places where you can do that, and without having to read so many big words, too!

I'm inclined to agree with unhinged, those of us who are here are not as angsty as we used to be and don't feel as compelled to spill it here as we used to. i feel most creative when i am least happy, and i have never been in such an in-between state as long as i have the last two years or so. I mean, i'm not overflowing with joy, but i'm also not drowning in my own assorted miseries either it's weird

yes unhinged definitely hit the nail on the head, not surprisingly... unhinged your words are concise and expressive, and as usual i could not have said it better myself :D i remember looking at blather a long time ago and being amazed by all the writers and poets sharing their thoughts and their words in this little anonymous sanctuary but never really having anything worthwhile to contribute... so i helped fill in the empty space with spare words i had lying around in the back of my brain... but now seeing blather so empty makes me want to help revive it... now maybe i can help blather for when it helped me in the past...

( i find that blather culture has turned away, somewhat, from the subjects and tropes that i most enjoy. i blame myself as much as anyone else. i have been very busy professionally, and that has made it difficult to inhabit the inward posture which encourages the deconstructive state of mind that i often write in. i will try to visit that country more often. )
