Prayer has no place in public school, just like facts have no place in organized religion.

some people may consider blasphemy the fact that i believe that either jesus bit all his ideas off mary magdelane, or that jesus was a woman. i however, find the fact that i took the great cunts name in vain the other day and called someone a cunt and meant it as a cuss, a terrible, heineous blasphemy. i guess it, as with everything else, all depends upon perception.

..is something that some of us choose to view within the narrow confines of religion. Why are we so fixated on religion as the object of our disdain, disgust or derision? Don't we have anything better to do with our time? Do the tenets of organized religion which comfort so many confused sheep in our society threaten us so horribly that we must take comfort in our infantile urge to destroy that which we do not value ourselves? Blasphemy does not specifically pertain to religion or god. Blasphemy is an irreverent or impious act, attitude, or utterance in regard to something considered inviolable or sacrosanct. For some sports fans to call baseball a crock of shit would be considered a blasphemy against a "great American pasttime". For some artists the idea of censorship is a blasphemy against the tenents of free expression. This is just an idea, but perhaps we'll do a better job of demonstrating how pathetic we REALLY think the religious right is by not mentioning them. After all, if they are really a waste of time, then they are not worth wasting our time on. Indeed if we truly believe that these mindless automatons are nothing more than fools following a pack of lies, then to leave them to their foolishness, to let them go on about following their lies and reaping the consequences of their idiotic close-minded beliefs is perhaps the best way to show the world how truly stupid their beliefs are. If you are so inclined. If not, hey it was an idea. I personally could care less about them, but this blather was fun.

that's a fine idea except for the fact that the fanatics are always truying to subvert the law to serve their purpose. and there are always just enough idiots to vote them into office, or enough elected idiots willing to appoint them to positions of prominence, dubya and his AG john ashcroft are a prime example. ralph reed was one of dubya's campaign consultants and reed is essentially one of pat robertson's pet projects, i can't ignore the foxes when they've been given the keys to the henhouse

Truly spoken, great and noble bird. It's damn hard to ignore an enraged mob of narrow minded heretic burning zombies, if you look a little heretical yourself. Power and ignorance are a dread intoxicant indeed!

Perhaps if we press our politics with as much zeal as they press theirs, instead of confronting them head on with our own, excuse the phrase, rhetoric, we would actually head off these attempts by the mindless zealots to force their belief systems on the rest of us. We have the same opportunities as they do. Unfortunately, when THEY confront us, they are made out to appear noble, when we confront them we are made out as antagonists. It just seems to me that NOT confronting them, but suppressing their constant grasping for control is a better solution to the threat that they pose to other ways of living.
