I'm getting a tattoo. I want it to be the libra symbol, on my lower back. you'd be amazed how hard it is for me to find a nice design that i like for the libra symbol. i've been looking online, thinking of printing one from th internet. I did stumble upon someones personal webpage and he was talking about his tattoos, which slightly surprisingly were the exact same three I wanted. he got "wicked" printed in kanji, the libra symbol, and a star (actually, i want three stars.)
isnt that crazy tho? if any of you wanna help with my design, I'd be your slave forever.

my advice would to be to take the libra symbol and embellish it, mutate it, make it your own. my tat (as seen in the pages of pictures_of_blatherites) is a derivative of the more obscure saggitarius symbol, also the symbol for jupiter... i mirrored it years ago for a personal symbol, then blended it with a chaos star (8-pointed) for the tat.
anyhow.
for symbols and such, embellishment and whatnot is pretty easy, just doodle till you find something you like.
and post pictures.

girl_jane, i like the moon idea, we had an exchange student who did the same with a sun, she left it holllow and put some stars in it. my sister drew her own designs, but shes got talent, she just picks up a pen and can fill up a page in 20 min

next one is designed, has been fitted to skin and photographed, and is waiting the return of a goddess (looks like late january) to get it inked. resembles a bow and arrow the same way my first resembles eight lines. will be i think a foot, maybe more, tall, straight up the spine, with the arrow, and "bow" will flow just below kidney area. once i can, i'll put pics of the prototype on the yahoo site.

holy_crapola, p2, those are glorious. i looked at the tats, looked at the symbol, and didn't see the connection until i looked back at the tats. (shoulder, at least). so very glad to be of cervix.(*bouncebounce* it very much looks like it belongs there, the sign of a proper tat. yay!)

haunt tattoo shops on slow days ask to see the artists "books" run away if they dont have them find shops with other work from said artists on the walls or in portfolios rinse repeat until you find an artist whos work speaks to you talk to the needlepuncher see what their vision of what you want might be if they do a detailed drawing offer to pay for it even if they decline even if you dont get the ink speak up let your voice and vision be heard it will be with you for a very very long time sleep well eat well go in on time and calm NOT fucked up it wont hurt as much if you can relax take very very very good care of it when it is healing
