Atleast with the writers block we arn't peddling as much spiritual smut, and with the BLTs in our mouths we can't solicit souls either!

well they cant drink or dance, and i mean if they cant write, you might as well masturbate, like i always say. but the one thing i cant figure out is that mormons practice polygamy and have several wives, if none of them will fuck this poor guy i would be writing and masturbating too... possibly using my own tears as lubrication and/or ink.

I second that question...hrm..maybe somewhere south of the border... In any event, the practice of polygomy was ended over a hundred years ago, and despite popular belief, Mormons are some of the best dancers on earth. I myself have become a beginner swing dancer and have always enjoyed mosh and industrial goth dances.

officially ended over a hundred years ago....the federal government wouldn't let utah become a state until the mormons outlawed polygamy. but there are plenty of creepy 'orthodox' sects of mormons in utah and surrounding areas that still practice it. there is a tv show on either hbo or showtime or one of those movie channels and i think it's called 'big love' about a polygamist. most mormons officially frown on it, but it's still out there.

nah....it wasn't a bad joke. i'm just money obsessed lately. i don't have much stability or security at my job. the weakening dollar is not a good sign for someone who makes money the way i do. the fine arts are the first thing people stop spending money on when times get tough.

You compile a sata base of people you know that are 8interested in the Arts. Then research via Zoominfo and other sources people who can afford what your selling and add them to your database. Then you put out monlthy or bi monthly postcards inviting people to shows and keeping them informed of the new art you have available, or perhaps special sales or auctions. Also, try to keep a personal relationship with your best colients as they will be more apt to think of you when a bonus check comes or a big sale goes through. Also, you can attract new customers by offering free eveluations of their art collections. This lets you know what they have and ingratiates them to you, so in the future they will look to you for purchase and sale.

Same concepts apply. I would suggest targeting private schools, community colleges, and music groups at major universities. Espouse the benefits of one on one instruction, site testimonials, and make sure you meet prospects face to face.

i apologize for being so shallow but that may have been the funniest thing i have ever read, L_s gives this huge explaination of targeted marketing and unhinged just says..."im a violin teacher..." this is why i love you guys and this site. this is the happiest ive felt in a while, thanks guys. but on a side note, L_S is right, with something like being a teacher of the fine arts, you have to create the want for people to participate. Music is something we cannot afford to loose due to economical problems. look at what Esteban has done with the guitar, he has created a video simplifying guitar lessons and now he is making millions off of it. maybe try doing the same thing with the violin, start sales on ebay and see what happens. best of luck.

i pay about $300 a month to a music store for space and advertising. but they don't do much. i had a drunk parent berate me for not making enough progress with their five year old at 8pm. progress doesn't happen one day a week buddy.... it was a tough day at work. ( i replied the way i did because people do not view music lessons the same way they view a painting)

Place the expectation early on in the parent that they must be vigilant in enforcing practice. Without practice, the child will be doomed to fail. This alleviates you from responsibility and places it on the parent. Establish this at the onset of the teaching and they have no complaint that doesn't incriminate them as well.

it's amazing how ridiculous people really are. if you are a parent, isn't it assumed that you have responsibility for your five year old? yeah, i guess for some people the answer is no. but not only did the guy try to make it my fault, but the actual really bad part was he was reeking drunk.
