Something of a rebuttal to those who think that much of what's being said lately is simply bashing Bush for kicks:

We are allies with the Saudis and if you use Bush's criteria for who we should call our allies and who we should call our enemies based on their human rights-record then it's sheer hypocrisy of the administration to still be so buddy-buddy with the Saudis (or Israel, for that matter)

This war isn't about peace or combating terrorism or protecting freedom, it's not even about getting revenge for September 11, it's about Oil and about the American government by way of republican party becoming more and more like a high-tech christian version of the Taliban. (Attorney General John Ashcroft's religious beliefs rather closely mirror the taliban's version of Shariyat law - he doesn't dance, he ordered the statues of Justice be strategically covered because he objected to the bared breast...there's more but for now i'll let it go with the light simple stuff...etc.)

The_Department_of_homeland_security and The_homeland_security_act set a dangerous new precedent in the amount of power Herr Bush is making a grab for.

Here's a little something to consider. yeah, Saddam's an evil asshole-son-of-a-bitch, but guess what, Bush's father and their senile god, Ronald Reagan created that monster by financing his regime and providing varying degrees of support for their 8 year long war with Iran while at the same time Reagan lackey, Adm. John Pointdexter - the guy who is masterminding a thankfully-still-unsuccessful program under the new USDHS called "total information awareness" (spell that "big Brother") and Fox News' resident Bush Jr. Fan (no, wait, that's the whole damn network)Oliver North were selling arms to Iran to raise funds to divert to a central american war where we were propping up at least two or three other monsters who were on par with Saddam in every way, in fact Daddy Bush even pulled an about face and actually committed troops to help put down a rebellion against Saddam in the days immediately following their retreat from Kuwait...

After the gulf war, the Iraqi government contracted Vice President Cheney's former company Haliburton for several million dollars worth of restoration of their oil production capabilities...

Bush's willingness to offer little more than verbal slaps on the wrists to Ariel Sharon's Israel for treating Palestinians the same way that Saddam treats the Kurdish population is why we can't get any real support from the other Arab nations in the area, who are now beginning to realize that perhaps the bigger threat to their security is not from Saddam, but from the little texas cowboy with the big-ass gun

our country's economy is a wreck and instead of looking for solutions at home, he keeps the public debate steered away from what knocking him about the quality of government that was supposed to be his strong suit by continually waving the bloody shirt of September 11.

The "war on terror" is a pretext. they sell it on the evening news like a product. In fact, if you notice, they waited until after labor day to whip up the "let's have a war with iraq" business because, as whitehouse spokesman Ari Fleischer said, "It's like selling cars, you don't introduce the new product until after Labor Day"

and whaddya know, instead of frequent coverage of the actions in afghanistan, suddenly all of the talking heads are talking about iraq... as if on cue.

Bush keeps talking about "peace loving americans" yet he and his politcal apparatus are doing everything in their power to drum up war-fever

He practically starts pouting and having tantrums every time Iraq complies with the terms of the inspection.

We keep demanding proof, and then The Administration isn't happy when they get it. "But Kofi! Why cant i have my war? I want it! I want it! i want it! Now! Now! Now!"

If the US takes to openly (as opposed to all of the covert) attacking other countries for not conforming to our idea of an ideal busin3ess friendly state, it completely throws away any moral high ground that ourleaders have ever tried (however questionably) to stand on.

it will likely bring more terrorism home to american soil, too, beacuse we will have given every irrational bastard out there the excuses they need

flowerock alot of the country is pissed about it but maybe not enough... or we don't know how to stop or change it. We could all buy local and not support the corporations/people outsourcing but for a lot of the country that is nearly impossible to do right now. 140826
