Photophobe I think trains always bring out emotive experiences for me. Light and travel - in the right combination can make me feel anything.

I'm on the train home from melbourne, and I finally get to sleep. streched out over the 2 seater with a jumper padding the metal in the small of my back, and a book for a pillow and my legs in the aisle.

A dreamless, thick sleep. I can't stand sleeping in airconditioned places.

Suddenly I jerk awake. I look out the window and the moon is flying past... I'm disorientated; drunk with sleep, and I don't understand. IT moon seems to be flying past at an incredicble rate - as though hours are passing at a time. I'm speeding through the night, catching the warold go into fast motion. I always knew thats what happened when you slept. :)

And suddenly I have "Strange news from another star" by Blur running though my head really slowly and really loudly, if thats possible.

And then, suddenly, the moon stays still again, and the music stops. Whats wrong with me? Did I just see time sped up, via a Blur song I haven't heard in 2 years?

I can't explain it. Maybe The train was turning really shrply, and I didn't realise it, making the moon look like it was moving. Thats my most likely explantaion. But I was really freaked out by it.

And I can't get the moment out of my head- The orange moon streaking my sleep-teared eyes and the song screaming through my head.

Strange News From Another Star

All I want to be
Is washed out by the sea
No Death Star over me
Won't give me any peace
All I want is light relief
Put the crazies on the street
Give them guns and feed them meat
They'll shoot the Death Star down
Dig a hole and put it down
A thousand miles underground

They say it's no game
There's strange news from another star
I'm lost, I'm lost
There's strange news from another star

Give me all your stuff
Until I can't get up
Watch the whole world freeze
Counting tin cans in our sleep
Submarines are diving deep
I don't believe in me
I don't believe in me
All I've ever done is tame
Will you love me all the same
Will you love me though it's always the same

Repeat chorus

sabbie "and today, there has been some strange news from anohter star. our reporter on the spot, sabbitha, has more."

"thank you kenita. well, im here on KXLI-1001 to bring you the breaking story. as you look around KXLI-1001, it doesnt seem like much, infact you would be hard pressed to believe that they are able to export anything but so called moonrocks. but if you come deep underground, you will be in for a surprise. we are jsut heading down now, into the heart of the star. the ricketly elivators are something you might see from a 19th century rural mine, but these are hand opperated. as you can see, i have to turn this large rusty wheel around and around to whinch my way down there. the metal bars of the cage have been painted by KXLI-1001's primary school children, of scenes that they can hardly of seen in their young lives. the images are amazing leaps of imagination, colours and action and figures and movement everywhere. one could get quite transfixed by the floor alone. but a transfixed reporter is not a winching reporter and that means you will never get to see what is down below. [creaking and metal protesting are heard, then the cage judders to a stop] ahh, here we are. we pull back the cage door to see a little tunnel, what one would expect from the interior of a planet. we have been provided with rings of dancing fireflies to light our way, you have to hold them by these leashes and they dance around your head. it isnt too much further.

as we round the corner you can start to see the glow. its every colour of the rainbow and shimering slightly. we are still trekking down the tunnel but we no longer need the fireflies to dance. we round the final corner and... wow. its... beautiful... wow. one of the msot... amazing sights this reporter has ever seen. the closest analagy i can find is the aroura borillis, but this stuff is tangible. you can walk through the wisps of colour, they part your hair, cling to your clothes. the long trails feel a little like spiderwebs, a little like tears, and they make music as you touch them, as if they are welcoming you with their song. the noise is oh so quiet, you have to hold your breath to hear them. they feel like the hand of god touching your head, theyre... beautiful.

i think this stuff is the basic building blocks of the universe. i think everything is made up of this stuff, our scientists have gotten it wrong all these years. its not dna. its not cell strutchure thats keeping us alive. its this stuff. we are all constructed of these amazing colours, this amazing music. if you sit in the dark and hold your breath i know you can hear it. this is the raw universe, and we are all built of it. we jsut didnt know it then.

i think we've jsut found god...
