amy is dna code more or less random than binary code? 000112

... yes 000112

Q good question, i've got a theory, tune in tomorrow :-) 000112

nullspace we are but a machine with no other funciton than to replicate the very dna that created us.
all that which is human.
reduced to four letters.
no greater meaning, no greater purpose. simply bags of water
and nucleic acid directed protein synthesis.

thinkertinker depends wut code sample your using doesn't it? Surely a sample of DNA grown in an alginate medium in a lab (such as in meselsom and stahl's semi-conservative replication experiments of 1958) then its going to be more "random" than DNA taken from a liver cell? But then, what are you meaning by random? If you mean in terms of variation then DNA is obviously more "random" because it is composed of a 4 base code whereas binary only uses two bases...? 030725

bandersnatch i have asked alot of my computer geek friends the following question and only got one answer

Q: would it be possible to make a computer not based on binary?

A: yes, all you would need to do is set the switches so they no longer work on base 2, but base 3. it is really alot easyer than it sounds. the only reason it isnt done that way is that when babbage made his adding machine he only had on and off switches, but now that we use silicon and lazers as opposed to a clunky swich we could make paths that go A, B, C as oppossed to A, B. the only difference is that the same ammount of power would consume a bigger area (larger machines) but would have more options. therefore a lower powerd (same sized) machine could perform probably as well or better than a binary computer. but as far as i know, no on ehas tried to do it.

and that answer put me in awe, because i realised that dna is but a base 4 code.

ferret dna reversed, it's and. so if and means more and the opposite of and is dna then does dna mean less? 030725

whistler to answer bandersnatch it just gets more complex because dna molecules work in groups of three where the 3rd base is not always important, it then codes for a protien sequence that is like base 20 which acounts for humans which is like base 6 billion and counting.

minnesota_chris I applied to be the secretary for a geneticist, brilliant researcher guy. (Luckily I found out he was an asshole before starting to work for him!)

We chatted about DNA (I can chat about almost anything) He said that our 23 chromosomes contain DNA from most of the previous life forms that humans evolved from. Lungfish, yep we got lungfish DNA. Monkeys, obviously. Worms even!

Most of the genes are "turned off", meaning they aren't used by our body. But still!

thinkertinker its not really that most are turned off its that there is much more coding for how the DNA is to be read that is itself not expressed (eg guanine(i think, cant remem) is coded for by and mRNA AUG codon however, this codon is also known as a start codon as when mRNA is translated this where the tRNA molecules bind onto the mRNA in the ribosome.. 030730
