I am the best speller that ever happened. I won my county's spelling bee two years in a row. I can spell almost any word you tell me. And strangely, that and anything else related to English is the only thing I'm all that good at in school. I learned to read when I was two. I'm such a goody goody.

we had to learn cursive because we were going to need it the rest of our lives. i flunked spelling because we had to do all the tests in cursive and if she couldn't read it you got it wrong, and my cursive was terrible. i never used it since.

i've met geniuses who couldn't spell 'specific' and words with equal difficulty. but spelling IS important. spelling, when not in vocal contact, becomes your medium of communication. you could be difficult to understand or just misunderstood if you spell words willy nilly. por ejemple, jon said a common misspelling is 'Yeah for Yay'. Yea ('Yea for Yeah' is fine by me) is a remark that confirms. "You want hotdogs?" "Yea." Whereas Yay is an exclamation. "I just blew off that guy's head, Yay." You could find yourself misunderstood, "You want hotdogs?" "Yay" "??? damn crackheads" i know i spell good, and i try to understand what people are saying. but there's nothing worse than a misspelling in 1337 5P34K.

All right Spelling, this time it's personal. You and me. Outside. Now. All through school, every essay, without fail, would come back with somthing like "Excellent essay. Spelling needs work." written on it. I think I'll do a PhD in English, just to spite them all. I'll spell everything in my thesis wrong and call it postmodernism.

Declare yourself a proponent of the Avant Garde, and then you can snarl at whomever disparages you. "They are so artistically unenlightened," you can say mockingly, amidst jeers.

or we could think. spelling is also not articulation. it is better to be more articulate than to spell accurately. it is better to have something novel to express or something thought provoking or/iginal than to be grammatically accurate but mindless.

Without effective spelling, however, those clever ideas will be lost in the jumble. A meticulous speller conveys a lot when one deviates from orthodoxy; the same turn, performed by a bad speller, implies only an inability to spell. Bad spelling undermines one's message as a whole. Like it or not, that's just how it is. A few mistakes here and there is negligible, but repeated errors such as "to" for "too" or "then" for "than" can quickly lead to incomprehensibility.

If you can't spell it PROVES your ignorance, your inability to communicate in a clear and direct manor. You can not possibly have any hope of being creative if you can not spell properly, if you can not spell properly you can not communicate ideas or answer questions in a coherent way. Therefore it's time for me to stop writing before i trip myself up even more. I must stick to the rules humans have created; wear a tie because everyone else does and go about life just accepting how people criticize and degrade each other every chance they get. It's just lucky i don't wonder or ask questions like some people do. Oh no! don't go out with him he can't read or write and he lives in a shack, don't you have any self respect?
