so IMHO, people should stop acting like they own blather and get on with blathering.
blather is like a library of thoughts, and just because person X uses blather to read the kids books, and you read biographies, doesn't mean that the library should not stock kids books. here's an idea, you don't like what blather is / has become? go somewhere else or create a new blathe where you flame anyone who treads upon it until they leave, then you'll have a nice little corner you can exist happily in, and so will everyone else.
in short, enjoy it, or fuck off and leave.

i agree - sometimes i keep to myself, other times i'm curious, so i ask questions, or answer those others have posed.
and does it matter? the whole point is we can say anythig we want here. and so far, i haven't seen anyone use it for real evil (maybe mischief) and that's a wonderful thing.
if anyone is so high and mighty that blather MUST be this or that, then start your own club where everyone follows your rules.
I have learned that we really DO do what we want, and although i knew this before, i never applied it here an should have. if you don't allow others the right to freedom, you deny yourself any.
