I brought my guitar on a missionary trip to Romania a couple years ago. God I miss it. One poor girl, I chased around singing Elvis songs. When she was on the potty, I was outside howling "Be Bop a Lula". Ok, I was a naughty kind of missionary. But she liked it. The Romanians dig Elvis too. But they have a hard time with the lyrics. So many great songs, all the way from My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean to complex ballads like Something and Across the Universe and even trippy shit like I Am the Walrus (I meant shit like stuff, not shit as in SHITs). Even as far as Free as a Bird and Real Love they maintain a unique quality, balancing the simple harmonies with more complicated backgrounds and aims. I was too young to mourn John, I mourned Linda dreadfully, I mourned George. I don't know how I'll be able to bear it if Ringo or Paul should ever leave too. I'll probably just put on some Beatles.
