When it comes right down to it there are only two kinds of people in this world. Elvis People and beatles People. Now, elvis people can like the beatles and beatles people can like elvis. but noooo one likes them exactly the same. At some point you have to choose, and that choice tells you who you are. Now, the problem with me is, every time i meet another beatles person, i think it means true love and we WILL be together. just something i noticed.

While I love the Beatles, my heart really belongs to the King. I'll be driving and playing one of his tapes and actually start gyrating. My friends don't like that. Are there really Elvis women? Not just "Love Me Tender" women, but "Hunka Hunka Burnin Love" women? "Hound Dog" women? I've never seen any. Maybe they're all holed up in Elvis' trailer, wherever he's hiding out. I brought my guitar on a missionary trip to Romania a couple years ago. God I miss it. One poor girl, I chased around singing Elvis songs. When she was on the potty, I was outside howling "Be Bop a Lula". Ok, I was a naughty kind of missionary. But she liked it. The Romanians dig Elvis too. But they have a hard time with the lyrics. One young woman sang to me "Love me tender. . . love me twice. . . "

Beatles all the way. I still like Elvis (You Were Always On My Mind) but the Beatles just cannot be outdone by anybody. The astounding talent and ability to evolve. So many great songs, all the way from My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean to complex ballads like Something and Across the Universe and even trippy shit like I Am the Walrus (I meant shit like stuff, not shit as in SHITs). Even as far as Free as a Bird and Real Love they maintain a unique quality, balancing the simple harmonies with more complicated backgrounds and aims. I was too young to mourn John, I mourned Linda dreadfully, I mourned George. I don't know how I'll be able to bear it if Ringo or Paul should ever leave too. I'll probably just put on some Beatles. A Day In the Life

Umm, silentbob, I'm going to have to disagree with you. I really don't like Elvis or the Beatles (ducks to avoid tomatoes). I'm more of a Hendrix people. Or maybe a Johnny Cash people. But I really have never liked either the King or the British sensations. Sorry to ruin your theory.... Maybe it should be beatles people vs elvis people vs hendrix people vs jazz/blues people vs ramones people vs any other people I forgot... why do we have to be vs each other anyway? Why can't we just like what we like and not be vs each other? Just wondering...

AND- I used to be in a band in the 80s called Elvis and The Beatles; but then we changed our name to Buddhist Presley.

Funny, when some former acquaintances and i were in the process of trying to put band together we once worked up a really disturbing death-metal rendition of Harrison's "My Sweet Lord"

Oh no! Elvis just got hit single number 18 with "A Little Less Conversation A Little More Action" on the british charts, ending the long standing tie of 17 #1 singles with The Beatles. Something must be done!!!!

I am a Beatles person. My mother would play them on the radio when I was younger, she was younger than 10 when she started to like them (they were just starting in the US). I don't have a favorite though George was an outstanding musician. Rest in peace George Harrison. "I really want to see you Lord" he sang and I think that is what he is doing now. Rest in peace John. I don't think anyone ever really understood you, which is why perhaps I am attracted to your funny little quirks in the film "A Hard Days Night." They're music has always stood out from all other types of music and I will play it for my children when they are young as well.

i never really got into elvis. yeah he is a talented guy i suppose, but i dont really see him as a hunka hunka burnin love. and i think most of the beatles stuff is great. but thats only if i have to qualify myself as one or the other. i dont think i am just one type of person. i like so much different stuff. i go from listening to cky to dance_hall_crashers to bright_eyes to billy_joel then even to him or mazzy_star or sunny_day_real_estate ok so maybe those arent all THAT diverse. but i try.
