Boy that would be one STUNNING internet. If every country was isolated from the other. It's no wonder that some of these opinions are blathed anonymously. I'd remain anonymous too with a philosophy like "go back where you came from.." The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution wasn't just some stupid idea that someone randomly proposed one day. Almost certainly it was the enunciation of a concept meant to provide part of the framework of a WORKABLE society composed of people with differing ideologies. When someone lives in the United States and finds its current condition detestable, they are preserved the right to speak about their dislike of what is going on. The reason for that, is that if ONLY people who LIKED the way of things were allowed to remain and speak..the country would never change to continue to accommodate its population of people with different ideologies. Saying, if you don't like the way the country is...leave or shut up, is perhaps one of the most ironic abuses of the First Amendment...since it is an idea that stands in direct contradiction to the free speech which it takes advantage of.

I Watched "Independet Lens" on Public Television last night. It was about the Chicago Eight Trial and the Peace March on the Democratic National Convention. Troops and Tear Gas against Unarmed Citizens. America the land of the Free. I was in High School at the time, I remember wearing a black armband to school and being ridiculed for it. A far cry from the Gas and Batons my Contemporaries went through. My Wife (10 yrs my junior) was totally Confused by the Events Portrayed. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Yeah, daf, but a person shouldn't just sit on their ass and complain all the time, either. Not sayin you or anyone else here does that, but there are people like that...overflowing pisspots with no motivating factor in life other than to let everyone else know how shitty just about everything is. Its like the opposite of what you were doing with that "I love you" sign only I'm betting there are alot more piss pots.

Unfortunately...when you DO something, there is a line of riot geared police officers with rubber bullets waiting to punish you without trial. I wouldn't flinch. But many would. And so they vent their frustration with words. What does it take to walk unarmed and unarmored through the streets in protest? What does it take to shake the wrongs in our system to their very foundations and effect change? Not the sort of "change" I've heard about from every politician that has run for office during the 10 election cycles that I've been alive, and the 8 that I can recall. Real change. There will be no change this election cycle if we keep believing the same old line that people have been buying for decades or more now. What do you do? How do you get up off of the pot?

A good question. The situation calls for an extreme. We can, as a group do a small thing, and together, it will equal the task... or... An individual can do an exceptionally large thing, to the same effect. Mind you the consequence will be hard and painful(its an unbreakable law that change will hurt)but if done right, and for the right reasons, the effects will also be equally rewarding.

What is nessessary is an Awakening of Compassion in the Populace, the Beliving in a Common Human Bond. For as long as we belive in the Us versus Them, it is possible to commit any atrocity on the "Other". The Real Social Change will be driven by the Realization that we ARE the Other, and so from this a sense that sharing is not a net loss for the indiviual, but an investment in the Collective, may emerge. I hope in the Day that Everyone can look into Eachother' eyes and See Themselves Reflected There. But The Wall of Fear is Hard to Rise above, And I Know I'm a Fool, But still I Hope for a Better Day...
