sty pete there is no reason for my apartment to look as if it was hit by a tornado of young men to high off their asses to give to shits about cleaning (or at least clearing their dishes from the living room), or to bother to think that the roommate who actually has a job might want to relax and watch a movie or play some playstation without moving a ton of plates, cups, and chip bags. why is it a sty? 070303 ... stephshine throw the dirty dishes in their bedrooms! on their beds! any and all trash just toss it in there. i have done this and you will feel liberated! speaking of a sty-i had one in my eye not too long ago. a different sort of sty, but equally irritating if you just want to relax and watch some tv. 070303 ... pete i've done it before, in a different place, i'm just too damn tired to care, and'll live in my room until its clean (which means no playstation for me, but ah well, sleep is better) 070303 ... stephshine messes make me want to kick some hiney. the fact that a mess has kept you from playstation, however, makes me want to rethink my hatred of the sty. this is a good thing. 070303 ... pete well after being on my feet for over eight hours thinking, sitting back for some good final fantasy 5 time is always acceptable... and now they're home, speaking loudly (or at least two of them).. i was having such good dreams... (i'm a tad passive aggressive) 070304 ... stephshine they're probably sleeping now, it being morning and daylight and all, that's how these things work. do you have a tuba? maybe this would be a good time to practice, while roaming through their bedrooms, and singing in between breaths, emulating bjorks voice. 070304 ... pete they are sleeping, in the midst of the mess. no tuba but i was thinking i might start stacking some plates and dishes a little less gently than i should (they're mine so if i break one, well i get them from work chipped :D) but instead i'm going out for food with an old friend 070304 ... misstree or, and here's a really radical idea, talk to them about it. i fully support all the aforementioned suggestions, but communication has a better chance of actually solving the problem. it's a hard conversation to have, and there will be a little bit of you that might feel like the bad guy, but it's a neccessary thing. don't attack them with it, use really neutral wording: instead of "you guys are pigs and it's disgusting," say, "i feel like you don't do your share of cleaning, and it makes me uncomfortable in my own home. would you mind picking up some things?" the first is an accusation, the second expressing yourself as a personal view and not hard fact, and making a request. you'd be surprised how people take to it. has seen a couplesometwothree roomie escalations in her time. 070304 ... mt and, should they fail to respond, get nasty with a clear conscience. 070304 ... pete i've done it before with other roommates. my sleep deprived soul was just quite angry, especially after the early morning wake up being told that i should 'have more fun', he's yet to be awake when i've been home all day. the time will come. and hopefully the lived in state of the apartment will be restored (i.e. dishes cleaned, food removed from beneath the furniture kind of deal) and life will go on as it always does. 070304 ... pete resolved. 070304 ... stephshine :) though i was hoping for a tuba story. 070304 what's it to you? who go blather from
