what a vibrant little nook of the world. if rent wasn't so high and jobs so scarce, i'd just stay here and say fuck goin to portland. definitely a consideration for future_places_to_live. twill certainly be back someday. besides, any town with so many smiling beautiful honeypies gets my vote.

I thought I'd be moving to berkeley. Then oakland. Then san leandro. Then santa rosa. Right now it looks like SF near golden gate park. If we both get the jobs we're trying for and find a place in the ghetto it should be ok.

spike and i went to berkeley yesterday (the day before). we sat and watched two hyper kids skateboard straight at each other and knock each other with their raised elbows, while yelling. (one of them had chased a pigeon; they flicked a rubber band at it -- ironically, much like i later flicked a rubber band at spike's eye; poor spike.) an older, stocky man took the job of being their coach/referee very seriously. the taller, skinnier guy on the skateboard offered to help a girl with blue hair carry her paper towels, and spike said he was going to mug her. she didn't let him help, anyway. an old man came over and sat near to spike (which she doesn't like, because of the man on the bus), and asked if we had a cigarette (we didn't, but there was a kid with green hair who looked like jeremy selling them on the bench across the plaza -- marlboros). the old man then picked up a cigarette butt from the ground and proceeded to relight it and smoke it. spike said he was making wheezing noises and it was gross. spike and i mock-argued, loudly, causing no scene, really (because this is berkeley). i grinned at her and she didn't grin back all the way (although she would argue that point). she turned and stumbled/sat right on the crack between the two benches and hit her butt on the edge of the bench and her butt then continued to hurt all night. and she had something in her nose. "oh my butt!" and, "the blinking chickens." (berkeley really does have blinking chickens, don't you know?) we had enough money for parking. we saw "the hours."
