i thought it was a homeless punk person who lives on the streets and uses cardboard boxes as blankets and bums cigarettes off people.... i dont think it has to do with their language necessarily.

I like Mahayana's definition. It's much more fun. Although both could be right.

...is whatever you want it to be make vocabulary your own, create it ... make it personal... why does it have 2 be this or that why can it not be both or nothing at all? or why can it not be both and nothing at all all at once as well do we think one word is this or isnt that cuz others before us said so ... rememeber what one of many intelligent blathers blathed ... [question everything] i say question even the very words & letters in typing [ q u e s t i o n e v e r y t h i n g] gutterpunk is whatever your reality is ... whatever your perception will allow it to be ... if 1287132837893 people agree or if 1 or none agrees both ways are still right for myself its still A...[blanket term used to describe some smart ass punk whose mind is oft. in the gutter, reducing every & anything 2 its lowest most basic form of sassity] [bows & covers butt with both hands as bowing][raises eyebrow slowly & giggels] [have fun with your words]

gutterpunk- usually come from dysfunctional white middle class homes. The fact that the word "gutterpunk" includes the term "punk" can be somewhat misleading in as much as gutterpunks may not necessarily prefer punk rock music. Many prefer metal, rap, or techno. Since gutterpunks rarely have any more possessions than they can carry, they attach great value to their clothes. Their hair is usually cut in an anti-establishment fashion.

Speaking from personal experience: A gutterpunk is equal to crusty kids or even the occasional rainbow kid. We are masters at spanging and flying signs. We also indeed sleep on little beds of cardboard with cardboard blankets. But we only do this when traveling in places without abandoned houses, or even temporary bridge stays. More often tho we usually carry blankets in our packs and use crow bars, which we call squat keys. This is because our favorite residences are usually squats. Once tho, I did spend a really nice time in my bush squat on central and carlisle. It was a pretty nice little spot hidden away from prying eyes. I passed it down when I left Albacrackie for good. It's prime squat real estate. Another little tip for you.. If you poor a 2 liter out to the sugars line on the nutritional facts, you can fit exactly a 5th of chosen liquor in it with out any waste. note - I haven't tested this since I retired about 10 years ago. So things may have changed but I doubt it.
