x i walked out from the bathroom, where i heard the neighbor's cats doing the early morning stampede, and i wondered what our own kitties were up to. i looked in the living room to find them embraced, looking at me sleepily like i had interrupted an intimate moment. so much so that i turned and went back into my room rather than continuing onto the kitchen. 031120

birdmad woke up at the prompting of my alarm clock and had to answer the urgent morning call of nature, to the chagrin of Tonya and Shadow who were again asleep on my shoulder and behind the small of my back respectively

this was greeted by the exprected meow of protest from tonya and the usual "aww man" look from shadow

Of course, with Tonya all is forgiven as soon as i crack open a can of food and she will follow me around until i get it.

daf Kitties are so misunderstood when they just don't feel in the mood. You cannot own a cat, like you cannot own a friend. You must treat them well, and in return, they're loyal til the end. 031120

daf and you do? No love, I have quite a clue and have had many kitties who were my loyal friends to the bitter end. Johnathan was my favorite, he was a big muscular cat that would growl if anyone approached me from behind. He followed me to school one day (which was against the rules.) It made my friends all laugh that day, to see a cat at school.

See kitties dont fall for shenanigans and they don't hold them against the ones they love. Kitties give what they expect, freedom to be what they are and give and receive love freely.

You get, what you GIVE.

Dafremen@hotmail.com Kitties will not place you in a box marked EXPECTATIONS and scratch your eyes out if you climb out of that box when it becomes uncomfortable. Neither will kitties allow you to stuff THEM in that box for long.

"It's cramped in there and besides...that's YOUR box, why don't YOU climb in there for awhile instead?" the precious kitties might say.

daf Yes indeedy. However, while most won't forget an injury, they also won't hold a grudge if the apologies are sincere and the love is heartfelt. Kitties are much nobler than humans in that respect. 031120

daf I can think of one kitty whose been scratched entirely too often for climbing out of another kitty's box. Still the injured kitty has refused to stuff the second kitty into the same box. Kitties probably shouldn't hurt each other over disappointment born of expectations.

There's too much sunshine to enjoy, butterflies to chase and purring to do.

daf Words are not an adequate medium by which to convey sincereity OR insincerity. Maybe that's why kitties don't use them to communicate their feelings. 031120

The Spork Side note: Cats, while aloof and largely inscrutable, have one advantage over humans in that even their weirdest most spontaneous actions are a little bit more Hard-Wired into their instincts than humans who are frequently driven by the most Arbitrary and Capricious impulses.

And the cat will never try to invents some way justify itself for this later.

Sorry, I've been hanging around with Attorneys all day around work.

As a result, I think i need a shower now.

daf Who would ever want to hurt kitties? And kitties will CERTAINLY justify their actions later. They come up after completely ignoring you, rub against your leg and purrrr as if they hadn't done anything wrong. And when kitties say, "can we forget this ever happened?"

We invariably pet them, and say...sure kitty, that's what friends are for.

Sleep tight lil' kitty.
