There are two ways to say "it was pretty good". I said it to uphold its meaning, not deny it. The kind of film smart teenagers would die defending. Eh, I'd see it again.

I woke up today, started from a dream in which Pastor Just was telling me that I couldn't go to the church anymore because I had missed 5 weeks, and he wouldn't even accept my good excuses... States, camp, vacation... and I overslept and went running and told God about my problems. Upon returning home, I turned on MTV just long enough to see the advertisement for the Royal Tenenbaums, which I have been waiting to see ever since I finished Franny and Zooey. I had liked Salinger since reading Catcher in 8th grade, and I read the review of the movie in the Free Times which made references to Franny and Zooey, which I didn't read until the movie wasn't being played anymore. So I got the movie and eagerly watched it, anticipating Margot/Franny and waiting to see how Seymour would fit in. It was beautiful. I smiled, and watched in horror, and cried at the end. You would love it, Tracee. I went downstairs and hoped that you'd be online, because this time I would talk to you. I wouldn't make small talk, I would just want to know if you'd seen the movie, because you would like it as much as I did. And then we could talk about that, because I never got to talk to you after you read Franny and Zooey, because by that time it was too late for me. Everything would have been perfect if you were on. I even thought of calling you, because that's how much the movie meant to me. "I always wanted to be a Tenenbaum." "Me too."

LOVE this movie. Is one of my top 10 fav movies ever. The part where the one son slit his wrists made me cringe though. It triggered.

We were driving to the art musuem and you told me that you had finally seen both the Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore, because I had recommended them, but that you didn't get the Royal Tenenbaums, but that you loved Rushmore. I was sad that you didn't understand the Tenenbaums, but so very happy to be going to the art musuem with you. Because you're a kindred who sent a good luck note, in Latin, to me before that big cross-country race. You and your wonderful ideas and words and paintings.

I thought it was cute, especially the suicide attempt and aftermath. It had too many main characters though, and the ending was way too mega happy.

the suicide scene means something completely different now, what with the song playing in the background being elliott smith, and him having killed himself. its weird because... he wasn't a suicide when the song was put in there. and now he is. the song already reminded me of suicide when i heard it because of the scene. now the scene will remind me of suicide because he actually did kill himself.

oh little dot, you must be a creative genius! to come up with such an organized critique of a contemporary film! you must have spent semesters at a prestigious & expensive new york film school in order to learn to analyze the art of the talking pictures. i praise you humbly, in your eloquence, and your budding opinions, and your absolute lack of creativity! i would Love to see what kind of film you would make, had you the means. possibly a remake of an old film, something simple, no need to come up with anything new! or maybe you would just make something high-budget, packed with CGI and explosions, to cover up for the fact that the writer sucks! what do you think? jackass.
