I guess I really enjoy it the most when I read through a blather and can chuckle at some of the witticisms I come across. It's at thoses moments that I feel good, real good. Not depressed, not cynical. A feeling I wish I could bottle and carry around with me for the times when my mind starts to eat itself. Maybe I should just give in and get the internet at home again. I just fooking hate dial-up is my only reason that I use for not doing so.\ And this was a song I believe by Asia. And why the hell am I bringing up all my childhood rock bands? Bad habit.

soaking wet from a dip in the ottawa we sat front centre at our first workshop to see cowboy dave (who was only a cowboy once, but that doesn't matter)... gordie sampson dedicated his song "sunburn" to us... we got burned, but luckily we had sun screen on so its only splochy burns

we didnt meet him as such, we only ended up at all his work shops (three of them.. or was that four?) over the weekend at the ottawa folk fest... and he also had a main stage performance right before harry manx and the urban turban, who were amazing. he only dedicated the song to us because we were the only two people sitting in the brutal sun (got a light form of heat stroke and passed out in the shade of one of the stages for a few hours a little bit later)... the other twenty or thirty people were 10-15 metres from the stage beneath the shade of a big tree. we, on the other hand, were 5 metres from the stage beneath that brutal sun... our friend david carmicheal was playing at the workshop too, so we were showing our support

three or four workskops? oh i'm jealous. i had front row when i saw him in concert last spring. talked with him for a short ten minutes or so afterwards, though we didn't really say much. my mom talked with him more than i did. she's great with people like that. i had a shyness attack, and could barely spell my name outloud for him. i was superimpressed by his talents.

other highlights of the ottawa folkfest were arlo gutherie on the mainstage saturday night, penny lang at the gospel workshop, jacky washington, ken whitney, and mr scarlett doing trio's before harry manx sunday night... and, of course, that dip in the ottawa river to begin the weekend
