I think she's referring to the changing colors of a mood ring. When the stone on a mood ring is black, it is supposed to be indicative of depression or similar negative state. When it is purple or blue, it is indicative of a calm, relaxed zen-like state. When it is red, it is indicative of anger. When it is green, it is indicative of love.
