*Ziima* I planted daffodils, and you just laughed at me. You told me they'd never grow. You told me that I was ugly. Well now that they bloom and you see their beauty...am I beautiful now? 010719

dreamsicle yellow trumpets glowing bright
illustrious sun's triumph
bathing in ineptitude they sit
swaying in the breezes
follow your heart, they say
seldom do passers by listen
hurried by their briefcases
their concrete yields no life
that does not daunt our warriors
orange and trumpeting they stay

Q Came across this poem by Wordsworth this evening and thought immediately "Hey, it should go up on blather!"

Daffodils

by William Wordsworth

I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and
hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay;
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

unhinged (the daffodils usually don't blossom here til may. where i grew up they burrowed their way out of the ground in late march and even the slow waking tulips were busting out all over by april. tulips here come around so late, they are barely here all of a couple weeks before summer's humidity kills them off) 110210

there was a sea of red tulips
near my work this week
i hope they are hardy enough
to survive the cold rain

the daffodils on the street where i live
are mostly still sleeping
middle of goddamn may
and the flowers are still sleeping
