blather_ban Ouroboros An idea that popped through my head A person abuses blather over a longer period of time, and there is something blatherskites can do about it: There is a way for blatherskites to vote to ban that person from blathering forever/x amount of time. Blatherskites, to prevent identity theft, would be identified by their ip address/email password/??? ... 071113 ... Ouroboros And if the number of skites who vote to ban the spammingblatherabusive-skite is high enough in proportion to the total number of skites who blather on blather during the duration of the vote (a week? longer? ??), then that person is banned. 071113 ... Ouroboros Or like craiglist, where users can flag posts, on each blathe there could be a SPAM/ABUSE button, which clicked on leads to a form with a space for the accused blathe name, date, the accuser's name, and the nature of the complaint. 071113 ... . decent ideas, but i'm against such a ban in principle. the potential losses outweigh the potential gains.... (no one has been *that* bad yet, and one recent nuisance has actually been quite palatable lately...) 071113 ... ever dumbening it's kind of the whole ben franklin "security/freedom" thing. you pretty much just have to tolerate/ignore the idiot or idiots in question. harder in some cases than other. most idiots on the web are trolls. don't feed trolls. eventually they go away, occasionally they grow up. unfortunately, blather invites so many kinds of bullshit. it's such a different environment. unless someone is so far beyond, to the point where emails to the blather_gods are necessary, it's best to just ignore, or attempt to fight it within, or take a break from blather, or just wait it out. like i said, eventually they go away. a.k.a.
