It's Christmas? I didn't get a memo on that! I pulled a 12 hour day in the office yesterday (Christmas Eve), (+ 2 hours total drive time). Today, I am going to pull about 6 hours in a branch facility, (+ 2 hour, 30 min. total drive time). Christmas is just another day. I'm trying hard to convince myself of that, anyway...

Right! I'm doing it again this coming weekend. I normally work 7 days a week. I usually pull 14 hours each Saturday and Sunday (28 total), so this is no big deal for me. "Work will save me! Work is the only thing, that will see me through this!" (-Tom Hanks, quoted from 'Sleepless in Seattle' - he said this, after he lost his wife to cancer)

I actually know quite well the abillity of work to help pull you through a terrible loss. My first wife died of a sudden aneurysm in her brain while returning from a vacation, and I was at a total loss as far as my life was concerned. If I didn't have a job to go to I probably would be wandering the streets muttering to myself in the cold night of dispair. As it was I would come home in the evening and put myself out with nitrous-oxide,sleep in my clothes and avoid people for several months before I came back around. But don't let work become another stress factor in your life, you need to unwind periodicaly too. You will never forget your lost love. I am remarried now and I still think of my first wife daily, I always will I feel. There will always be little things that cause rememberence to arise, in the beginning this was painful, but now the memories are most always good, I find that with time all I remember of Mary are her good points and the little things that endeared her to me. And I know that there were things about her that would piss me off from time to time, But those things I find really didn't matter. You'll be fine! Just don't let your job take advantage of your sorrow. Make sure they pay you at Time and a half after Forty hours. It's Federal Law, unless you are unfortunate enough to be salaried, then you're stuck withwhat they hand you. Take a stand for Labor! sincerely, your shop steward
