Alden So two friends from work, Karla Schmeltzer, age 49 and Matt Probst, age 33, just left my house. It's one o'clock in the morning. They came over to watch the super bowl, which was lame as hell. Neither of them have played a video game since pac-man, but I had them running around fragging each other in Half-Life for the last six hours. God bless the games. My friends, I've converted another couple of heathans. 030126

kss we used to have 3 and 4 way LAN games in my house, ofter for 8-10 hours straight. people would drop out for a while and go do something, other people would stop by and jump in. I played so much I would get shell shocked, and imagine I heard people throwing gernades or launching rockets in while trying to go about my busniness in the 'real' world. now I'm stuck in LA for 6 weeks on work, suburbia hell near thousand oaks, and I am going to play all three single player games in lieu of having a social life. 030126

screwing fro virginity the original single player game is the best 1st person shooter i have played in a long time. it had a perfect mix of puzzel and action. but little to no replay value, so play it on hardest 1st go around, cause you wont want to re beat the thing.

the 1st expansion (you are a marine) has the same quality of action as the first one, but less puzzels and thinking. but were times when you did some things (like crawl in a pipe is one example) because it was the only option left, not because it made sense, and they used more of those anying assassins. but dispite those two flaws it was still preaty good.

i have not played blueshift, nor have i played online. but i plan to do both shortly

Alden Hey, take it from a bonafied game addict, blue shift isn't worth it. It's an insult to the half-life name. You're right, the single player is brilliant, possibly the best ever, but one game I enjoyed at least is much was Deus Ex. I highly reccomend you try it. Everybody in fact, it's worth it, totally. 030127

Alden Man, this half-life thing is totally sucking my life away again. It reminds me of the week long Oz frag fests of yester year, where we drank gallons of mountain dew, ate nothing but papa johns and pretty much forgot about basic hygine. It's great. It's got my friends totally hooked, although Karla has given up on learning to play herself and instead insists on "helping" me by doing the "driving" and keeping me from winning. She thinks it's great. Tonight I cooked for them for the first time, my world famous steak sandwich and some nice hot ministroni (sp?) soup. They were impressed. Not too many 21 year old bachelors can cook like me. Anyway, everyone on blather is now officially invited to my next big lan party, where I may just make my world famous snickerdoodles. 030129

Alden We ought to start a video game addiction thread and find out what everybody is playing, or what has sucked countless hours of their life away. In fact, I'm going to do it. For_People_who_Play_Games_and_little_else 030130
