I think Bowling For Columbine is a great movie, when not taken as serious argument. A better comparison than Spinal Tap is Hitler's Triumph of the will. Like Moore, Hitler's filmmakers utilized editing and completely skewed reality presented as fact to make it's points. Neither Fahrenheit 9/11 nor Bowling for Columbine were made (Unlike Showtime's film "DC 9/11" which was co-written by a former member of the Bush Administration and took more liberties with the known facts of the administration's response on 9/11/01 than what has been alleged of Fahrenheit 9/11) to glorify a figure in power. I also find it very telling that rather than offering any factual refutation of any of the points or allegations that Moore levels in Fahrenheit, the most common criticism i have heard is that Moore is fat and not very well dressed. And considering her own tape-doctoring escapades in relation to the Whitewater issue and status as a friend of Rush "oxy-fiend" Limbaugh is someone like NBC's Lisa Meyers wants to talk about anyone's strained credibility, she'd do well enough to look in the mirror first. And besides, it's a sad sign of just how many people are drinking the kool-aid when people will try to hold a filmmaker to a higher standard of accuracy than they will their elected leadership. The filmmaker's piece is optional viewing and you can ignore them if you see fit, the "leader's" decisions affect us, sometimes in life-and-death fashion, whether we want them to or not. Simply put, any inaccuracies or errors in judgement on Michael Moore's part have not resulted in lost lives and spent treasure where the current sitting Commander-in-Thief's errors and misjudgements have. 040703 ...
