The CBC news, right now. The guy talking about the Colorado shooting that happened yesterday, saying that massive gun violence is common in the US... or something... with emphasis on the US part. As if there wasn't a shooting last week in Toronto with 2 people killed and more than 20 injured! Agree that there should be more gun restrictions in the States, but still. ...But but but, EoI, why pick at some announcer's words rather than thinking of what actually happened? ...Because that's more depressing, I guess. Or, identification. I'm a hypocrite (even if admitting so puts me in a weird recursive paradox) but not a murderer (paradox mode off: don't worry, I'm NOT a murderer, at least so long as it's humans and not insects in charge). !!! one person shot just now in Toronto. I think I shall turn off the TV now; it's proving my point but not in a very happy way. People, just stop killing or trying to kill people. Really.

Gun control is a toughie. I believe many things in the US will change as my generation ages. Marriage equality, legalized marijuana, these are things I feel I will see if I live a long enough life. I can never decide which side of Amendment 2 I'm really on, but it doesn't matter. Guns will never be universally banned here. Wait, guns are TOTALLY illegal in Canada? There's no hunting or anything?

No, not all guns are illegal. They have to be registered, but I don't know what the application process is like. My cousin who lives in the country owns a hunting rifle as well as a crossbow (I don't think he's actually shot any deer with the bow, but the bow hunting season is longer).

gun laws here are stupid. when people site the constitution as a reason to write laws that allow known criminals to carry concealed weapons i just shake my head I'm glad I left wisconsin before conceal and carry became legal. milwaukee was already a violent enough town and if registration laws were tougher she would have never been able to buy him a gun for $50 on the street in youngstown its ok for everyone to have equal access to guns but not food or jobs or shelter smh

hypocrisy, or just needing something to blame? regardless of whether guns are easily accessed, if someone really wants to hurt a bunch of people, they'll probably find a way to do so. being allowed a gun does not equal motivation to kill.

sorry but i don't buy the argument that people kill people, not access to guns. in the 21st century there really isn't any damn reason for most citizens to own guns let alone carry them everywhere. in the statistically drunkest and most segregated city in america its just plain stupid to allow people to have guns on them at all times

i definitely agree that there should be a screening process on who buys and owns a gun, like there is in canada (though there were still multiple shootings here lately too, as eoi mentioned) but regardless, the person who chooses to get one and senselessly shoot people doesn't deserve any excuses made for them.

I think each state has their own way of doing things, but there is a 2 day screening process for all guns in the US. The problem is the guy in the Batman shooting was a PhD student with no prior record. All a screening process does is exclude people who already have a record.

which is exactly why democrats in wisconsin were trying to add a psychological evaluation to the screening process (there are a lot of backwoods crazies in norther wisconsin) but the republicans cried and cried about infringing on constitutional rights yet romney wants to filter the internet if he's elected. funny how republicans don't seem to care about freedom of speech, expression, or religion for that matter since their policy tends to be founded on conservative christian bullshit. GAH get in the 21st fucking century already you narrow_minded bigots (looks like its not just canadian hypocrisy)

and seven more people are dead in the state of wisconsin because a man that was discharged from the military for misconduct was allowed to own a gun
