somebody covered this on the donnie_darko soundtrack i still prefer the original this song is three years older than me (1982 tears for fears) All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going nowhere, going nowhere And their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow No tommorow, no tommorow And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you 'Cos I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad World Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday Made to feel the way that every child should Sit and listen, sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, no one knew me Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson Look right through me, look right through me And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you 'Cos I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad World (mad world)

Love this line: And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I don't care if it was covered or not. I've never seen Donnie Darko. Besides, doubt Donnie Darko has a patent upon a mad world. Surely other worlds are allowed to be just as mad, or more.

statement of defeat(?) maybe not; it coud be a maudlin attempt at rationalization. or a cry for something in a somethingness world... i dunno, i guess i just feel torn. between what? opposing sides of somethingness. gotta choose; always with the choices. grievous errors---effusive inner dialogue with pesudo-demonics forces of anti-Nature. It's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If I could only have one song to listen to forever, I would choose this one.

I think it was Michael Stipe singing in Donnie Darko. The original might be better but Donnie Darko is a really great film so it can be excused.

"...no one knew me,no one knew me.." When I'm feeling void of hope, usually the words to this song or no_one_is_there almost always go through my head over and over, like some sort of weird jukebox that only plays two songs. Both songs are probably the worst ones to come to a depressed persons' mind. For me personally,I always seems to get thrown into a stronger depression than what I began with. But they both have beautiful lyrics that have such an uncanny way of voicing the feelings I'm having at the time, that I find it difficult to keep them out of my mind. Besides,it's the only time I never push my sadness aside and pretend it isn't there. Hello sweet sadness,we meet again...
