We love the corrupt, sociopathic members of our species desperately, (as much as we might protest the notion.) We fawn over their possessions, their power, their decisions. We choose sides and divide our very homes and lives for a chance to cheer on our favorite. You see, it's science that's corrupt, not them. It's business that's corrupt, not them. It's religion that's corrupt, not them. It's the government that's corrupt, not them. It's the game, you see..not the players on the field making the game happen. And so to rid ourselves of our problems, we don't take out the sociopaths. We don't take the rich to task anymore, or let the guillotines drop, not us. Instead, we begin to discard the institutions they've infected. Science is untrustworthy, politics is a game, religion is bullshit, the education system is out of control. It's not the sociopaths, you see. It's these institutions (that threatened their power once.) Throughout history, they have corrupted and taken hold of every institution that came along to threaten their free ride. When their monarchs were replaced by representative governments..they infected those governments. When their emperors were deposed by the priesthood, they infiltrated that priesthood and seized it. And when science and education became the main guiding lights of reason..exposing and deposing the corruptions that these same power hungry maniacs had brought to the priesthood, they used their money, bought some scientists and scholars, then infected those too. But here we are, still fawning over the rich and powerful..striving to be them in whatever material ways we can. So sure we're going to change the world with our "revolutionary" Woodstock to Bitcoin, media-scripted Instagram-worthy lives. So desperate to live as the famous and wealthy do..even though we give them both fame and fortune. For some reason we feel they're worthy. For some reason we don't see them as the problem, the source of the infection in our society. We continue to take their money, and do their bidding. We ignore the fact that they are the the Typhoid richies of humanity, out spreading a gospel of endless slavery, consumption and pointless fad-mongering. They are tapeworms waiting to infect the next mighty human institution. Making sure we always find hope in the next new power base they've found for themselves, by twisting the f out of the old ones with their money and influence. And we must love it, because we worship their lives, admit it or not. We love programs that show them stabbing each other in the back, destroying each others' lives. Fighting over power and wealth. But we need a bad guy, because our society keep getting more restricted, less satisfying. We're tired boss, and someone has to pay. So we'll blame the institutions again. We'll throw out the baby and keep drinking the same dirty bath water. Not sure how we'll find a way out of this ancient trap. Maybe we forget about God. Maybe we get rid of government. Maybe we keep getting rid of any hope we have of taming these monsters. Maybe if we get rid of everything except the power and control the ruling class wields over our lives, maybe then things will be better. Who needs a baby? Who needs a bathtub? Throw them both out! We have the rich to adore, what else do we need? All we need is more dirty bath water. Who knows? Maybe they'll let us drink out of the toilet next.
