Everything might suck, but things can only get better, right? And even if they don't, everything's more fun when you're laughing.

the one thing you can count on in life is that it'll never be so bad that it couldn't get worse.

"...cynics like us." and she laughed, but I was stunned. There I was, despite my predominantly negative outlook on everything, still thinking I was some voltairean optimist.

Twisted optimism. If you can look at utter shit and just laugh, isn't that the bright side? Cynics go for the cheap laughs instead of risking it all for something real. I should know.

a cynic believes there is more bad than good in their fellow human beings... I can't be a cynic. I believe there's NO good in my fellow human beings.

he was the type who could take a casual comment and turn it acrid. his jokes would often be too biting, he would speak of what others took seriously with light condescension. sometimes at a party you could hear him do it, a slight chimpanzee bark in his voice otherwise languid and light. a bark which would let everyone know they can never rest, must always be on guard, take him too lightly.

Idealism is what precedes experience; cynicism is what follows. - David T. Wolf The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it. - George Bernard Shaw A cynic is a man who, when he smells flowers, looks around for a coffin. - H. L. Mencken

at 6 am, there is no meanness in my bones. in my flesh, there is. at 7 am, the flesh has purged cross thoughts and then bones remember them. at 8 am the mind has fully observed. the breath follows. the body is a confusing and influential part of me. cynically, i let it go to waste. why? it seems that i've turned out to be an aversive renunciate, against all popular culture recommendations... why? i don't seem to have the energy for bodily pursuits, the spirit seems to hold more promise. most the time i stay "high", and i stay cynical, unfortunately.
