Princess Lola they started alternative music. REM credits them as their insipration. w/o the ramones, the world would have been a different place. 010417

Rael One-Cloud I remember the Ramones. I lived for awhile in Queens, near the park where the 1964-5 Worl'd Fair took place. I would go clubbing in Greenwich Village, & sometimes they were a band I'd see.
They played one time, at a Queen's day. I had to walk home with Anni & her mother. Near the Unisphere is this big echoy building with Jetson towers, the New York state Pavillion. The top looks like a spider web, or a bicycle wheel. In those days you could walk right thru. Well ,we WERE, walking thru, as the Ramones played "Surfing Bird" Joey's laugh echoed everywhere.

dosquatch R-A-M-O-N-E-S!

Everybody's talking punk, but it all seems to be about modern GreenDayish neo-punk. Which still has its place, and I do listen to them, blink, whoever, but nobody wants to give credit to the guys who kicked this whole party off?

The 70's was full of aging hippies singing kum-bi-yah, a bunch of aging dowops singing My Girl clones, and a bunch of people in pastel sequins singing dance fever.

The Ramones came along in jeans and lether coats and slapped 'em all upside the head. They stripped music all the way down to the chassis had had at it - rhythm, lose the solo, who needs more than 3 chords anyway, and why waste time greasing up the crowd with chatter? They hit the stage, "ONETWOTHREEFOUR!!" and it was ON. They played more songs in an hour than most other bands were playing in two hours.

Blitzkreig Bop, Beat on the Brat, Sniff Some Glue, Rock and Roll High School, Psycho Therapy, Gimme Shock Treatment!

I've gotta go put an album on now...

z they were trying to be like pattie, the heads and television. joey tried out for television and was rejected because at the time he could barely play. it's ironic, i think they were the first cb's band to be sighed. real punk before the tides of commerce and popularity created the green day disease that we suffer from now. i see a better trend with the white stripes and jet and that uk outfit who's name i cant remember just now. back to the dolls and velvets glam roots is a good thing.

ramones - yeah i too will put some on now

thanks for the idea
