newme hi emmi.

i liked reading about strawberry fever.

mind if i ask you some questions?

what is finland like in winter? in spring? summer? autumn?
can it be compared to anywhere else?

what sounds are commonly heard on an average day in finland? are there average days in finland?

i used to enjoy listening to radio finland on cbc late at night...
(sometimes i still do but i haven't in a long while),..
anyway, have you ever heard any canadian radio broadcasts? is that a funny question?
do you ever listen to the radio? if so, what can you tell me about the radio?

emmi wow!! i just found this! i must have been absent from blather when it was posted...sorry i didn't answer earlier.

anyway :D

finland is cold in winter, in the south where i used to live, coldest was about -25 degrees (celcius). in the north it goes down to -40 probably. we get loads of snow and can build huge snowmen and go skiing and ice skating and such.
it gets hot sometimes in summer, but usually just for a little while. max about 35 degrees, i think. so it never gets really really hot...but in my opinion finland gets the best of all the seasons :) hahahh. finnish summers are good for berries and barbecues and swimming in the lakes. it's sometimes called the land of a thousand lakes. the forests are also beautiful.

i guess you could compare it to other scandinavian countries like sweden, or to the other neighbour, russia. as for finnish people i think they are kind of a mixture of scandinavian and russian cultures. the language has a completely different origin though, the finno-ugric languages i think the group is called, and it's similar to hungarian and estonian.

i'm not sure about the average days, cause i haven't been living there for about 10 years...
i miss the quiet, but then again that's very relative- helsinki is probably as noisy as any other city.
the older generations still like their tango music and dancing, but i would say the popular stuff they play on the radio is about the same as anywhere else in europe. good finnish bands are hard to find (i think) hahahah but then again i haven't heard many in a while.

i haven't listened to any canadian radio...what's that like? some people say canada and finland are somehow similar, maybe cause of the climate. i'd like to go someday.
