Ouroboros less Victorian and mother/father/sex obsessed than Freud, more focused on holistic healing and becoming fully yourself by integrating all aspects of yourself.

hsg "The gigantic catastrophies that threaten us today are not elemental happenings of physical or biological order, but psychic events. To a quite terrifying degree we are threatened by wars and revolutions which are nothing other than psychic epidemics.
At any moment several millions of human beings may be smitten with a new madness, and then we shall have another world war or devastating revolution, instead of being at the mercy of wild beasts, earthquakes, landslides and inundations, modern man is battered by the elemental forces of his own psyche."

amy nada i shall take on jung in the next year, after i'm done with freud's dreams book. jung makes many reccomendations, that's why i resist him. not sure why i should have a problem with that, people do it all the time, i do it. but i'm not psychological theorist and authority. it seems to me that jung should be keeping himself more open to various growth processes.

as an example, jung recommends that you stick with the religion of your upbringing for individuation and growth. (?) seems like you would be switching around if it's true individuation. perhaps, though, the religion of my upbringing would have unfixed beliefs (atheism, ex-Catholicism) and that's why i feel that way.... ramble...
