birdmad so ya
thought ya
might like to
go to the show

to feel
the warm
thrill of confusion
that space cadet glow

tell me
is something
eluding you, sunshine?

is this not
what
you expected to see?

if ya wanna find out
what's behind
these cold eyes

you'll just
have to claw your way
through this disguise

OR

in_the_flesh?

so ya
thought ya
might like to
go to the show

to feel
the warm
thrill of confusion
that space cadet glow

i've got
some bad news for you
sunshine
pink isn't well
he stayed back
at the hotel
so they sent us along
as a surrogate band
we're gonna find out
where you fans really stand

(are there any queers
in the theatre tonight?
get 'em up against the wall

there's one in the spotlight
he don't look right to me
get him up against the wall

that one looks jewish!
and that one's a coon!
who let all of this
riff-raff
into the room?

there's one smoking a joint!
and another one with spots!

if i had my way...

i'd have all of you shot!

dosquatch It's a good song, Bird, no doubt, and honestly the whole album start to finish is nothing short of genius, but this isn't the real moment of the album.

And neither is Another Brick part 3, I don't care how much the radio plays it. Hush, y'all, and learn something. Yes, it's a good song. Yes, it's fun to rail against institution. Still not the moment.

The album is about the pain of losing one's self, hitting bottom, and redemption. But mostly about hitting bottom.

Sure, there's that pain and lost feeling in Mother. Everybody (and their little dog, too) identifies with Comfortably_Numb.

But the real bottom of the barrel, nothing left but the last raw nerve moment of beauty and pain is Nobody_Home.

birdmad I can identify with where Waters was coming from, but I'm also kind of inclined to see Gilmour's criticism of the theme as "A lot of it was Roger pointing fingers at people and basically saying 'you, and you, and you all fucked up my life'"

my favorite song off the album is really "Nobody_Home"

i think i was baked and had just gotten done watching the movie when i blathed this.

dos Certainly Gilmour is right, but I tend to think of that as a required trait in a brooding artist. 080820
