the fact that the rest of the world is cheering along with us is a good thing. but we still do have to bumble through the federal political process. there still aren't quite enough democrats in the senate to automatically shoot down a filibuster. and proposition 8 still passed in california (not that that has all that much to do with federal politics). there is still a lot of ignorance in the world as witnessed by all the mccain supporters that booed every time he said obama's name.
but i sure hope we can right a fraction of the wrong that's been happening for the past eight years.

hell yes.
yes, there will be sacrifices and compromises, but honestly the mere fact that the majority of the American electorate chose a president with the name Barack Hussein Obama gives me such joy. So many people I've heard say that they never expected to see a Black president in their life time. That is not meaningless. I believe that has the power to inspire people to have faith in democracy, participate in democracy, and improve our democracy.
Yes, there will be compromises, but for now I am just really happy.
Never before would I have expected to ever hear a packed room at this liberal haven of a school chanting "USA! USA! USA!" It turns out we ARE patriots and proud after all.

'hell yes.'
