Copyright 1984 Morrissey/Marr Songs Ltd. from "Meat is Murder" -- i am the son and the heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar i am the son and heir of nothing in particular Oh shut your mouth How can you say i go about things the wrong way i am human and i need to be loved just like everybody else does "there's a club where you've got to go-- you could meet somebody who really loves you" so you go and you stand on your own and you leave on your own and you go home and you cry and you want to die oh shut your mouth how can you say i go about thinngs the wrong way... when you say it's going to happen now what exactly do you mean? see, i've already waited too long and all my hope is gone you! shut your mouth! how can you say i go about things the wrong way? i am human and i need to be loved just like anybody else does

thats the way my life turns. It seems like people are always telling me what to do and when i do it they say that i did it wrong.

the first time (of only four times total) i ever took lsd was in 10th grade. we started the night out in california_berkeley. jason and scott knew this place on dwight street (on the street in front of which there used to be the giant letters L.S.D. painted, and before that, before my time the words "don't jump"). once we got it, we dropped and walked to the corner of durant and telegraph. we sat and waited for a bus; it just so happened that sitting there with us was the drummer from starcastle, of all things. how many people even know who the fuck starcastle was, even back then? but i was jazzed—fuck yeah, lady of the lake, man. 'rolled in velvet crystal broken reds with scarlet hand-me-down of sundry seas melting golden flesh is cracked and spilled in garden-circles fly me on fly ... me ... on the hour will be' so we smoked a joint with him on the corner there. back in montclair, we met up with denise, and kerry's friend who liked sex and who went to continuation school, up at fiona's house. and john miller was there too. it was getting late and the acid was slowly starting to kick in. they were moving their cigarettes around, asking me if i was seeing trails yet. being in tenth grade i still had a curfew of midnight. i had no idea how long my night was going to be. john was heading back up the hill, so i got a ride with him. as we're driving up joaquin miller the acid really started to kick in. the street lights had spectacular starbursts surrounding, and "how soon is now" (my first time hearing it coinciding) playing on the car stereo fit the mood just right.
