u24 In order of aquisition (as far as I remember):

Un-named ZX Spectrum 128k (aka "The Speccy"). Loved it like a brother. Learned to program on it. Given away by my parents in favour of Joshua when I was about 10, I guess. I had it since about the age of 3.

Joshua. a P75 with something like 40Mb Ram and a 0.7Gb HDD. Top of the range back in 1995. My first PC. Learned to hack windows on it. Also well loved. Ran with case off for a while because I thought it looked cooler. One of the first machines to have Windows 95 preinstalled. Later formatted and installed redhat. Wish I hadn't because I'd still have all my old filez. Named after Professor Falken's son and the AI that nearly starts the third world war in wargames

Alex is the oldest, a compaq 386 in a tank of a shell. Ran win3.11. Given to me by a random stranger. I've got a soft-spot for Alex, he's just so clunky. He even has a slot for a 5.25 inch drive. Yeah, he's OLD. I gave him to Linds before we lived together so she could do her college essays on him. Currently running MS-DOS6.22. Couldn't think of a name, Alex was chosen rather randomly.

Michael, Linds' old computer. Ran win3.11. The desk he was on broke and he came tumbling down. HDD probably fucked. Pending investigation. Named michael because he gave Linds & family trouble when installing him, but then complied perfectly when Michael Jackson was played on a tape player.

Albert. my first laptop, an IBM thinkpad. Currently AWOL. if you're wondering how a computer can go AWOL, he was lent and never returned :( poor albert. Power supply cable was fucked though. Learned to program pascal on it. Can't remember the specs. Named after the robot in 'Virus' by Molly Brown.

Marius. Custom built from ebuyer components. current spec: 1.1Ghz processor, 768Mb Ram, 180Gb combined HDD space (2 HDDs) Dual boot suse and win2k pro. suse never used. originally ran win98. Dying due to dodgy power supply. Needs rebuilding. Currently our main computer. Overworked. Named after a vampire in the vampire chronicles (we wanted an evil sounding name (he has a black case))

Iago. "The laptop", 40Gb HDD, 200Mb Ram, not actually sure of the processor speed. Supposedly 'just for internet use' because we don't want Marius on the university network, but basically used for the same purposes as Marius, minus music and film-watching. We couldn't think of a name, but he has "iGo" written on the lid, and iago is a cool character in othello.

Artemis. Saw an advert for a decently specced computer for £100 (~$180) and so bought it. Has photoshop, dreamweaver, flash(?), office and various other goodies. would be the main computer in place of marius except that it has limited HDD space and is running XP home. If anyone knows if I can retrofit win2k pro but keep all the programs, I'd appreciate it. Her RAM is currently in marius, and her HDD is in a box on our window sill (not actually sure why - I think I thought the programs might be useful for uni work). Linds named her after the Greek goddess who caught Actaeon staring at her and turned him into a stag to be ripped apart by his own dogs. She's got a nice silver case.

and I think we're going to buy another over summer. I also have a collection of 3 or 4 psion palmtop computers, mostly broken, but I was able to get free payphone calls for a while. I also have a spectrum which I got for a fiver ($9) and intend to play with at some point.
